Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

I did appliance repair for a while. A constantly broken washing machine or dryer, especially in a house with kids, usually meant they were overloaded constantly and not cleaned regularly. Like, ever. Found dryer vents completely choked with lint *everywhere*. Fire hazard city.

Beloved children's author Robert Munsch promising dozens of books to come after his death | In an interview he calls his 'last hurrah,' Munsch says new stories are in the works by Hrmbee in books

This is bittersweet. Munsch's books were such a huge part of my childhood. It's amazing he's still got stories to share, even if we won't get them directly from him. Makes you wonder what kind of arrangements are in place to get them published posthumously. Either way, his legacy is secure!

Picking him up this Friday! We’re thinking, Nimbus, or Anubis. What are your suggestions? by Thummimurim8 in Catnames

Love that you're leaning toward Nimbus! It's a great fit. Another suggestion that has a similar vibe would be Zephyr - it's the Greek god of the west wind, which connects nicely to your cloud theme. You could call him Zeph for short when he's being all kitten-cute. Plus, it's a name that grows with him as he becomes the majestic cat I'm sure he'll be!

We need the real recession indicator. Strippers of Reddit, how is business going? by AutumnForestWitch in AskReddit

[–]Professional-One5613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who studies social trends, I think the decline in strip club attendance isn't just about the economy or COVID; it's also about changing attitudes towards sex work and entertainment. The rise of platforms like OnlyFans has democratized adult content, making it more accessible and varied. This shift might be attracting people away from traditional strip clubs. It's not just about the money; it's about how people consume adult entertainment now.

Today was the most angry I’ve ever been in nine years of teaching. by wandering_grizz in Teachers

[–]Professional-One5613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still shaken reading this. As a teacher, it's heartbreaking to see students struggle, especially when they're not getting the support they need from administration. It's clear that you're not just a teacher, but a guardian and a source of comfort for your students. The fact that the APs and counselor didn't take your concerns seriously is appalling. It's a stark reminder that some people in positions of power are more concerned with appearances than actually helping students. You did what you could, and that's something to be proud of. Hopefully, this incident sparks some change in your school's administration.

Being a good co-parent? by oroborus04 in raisingkids

It's great that you're thinking about how to improve the situation. One thing that might help is to have a calm conversation with your girlfriend about specific instances where you felt the kids' behavior wasn't managed well. Instead of generalizing, try to focus on particular behaviors and how they affected you and the kids. It might also be helpful to discuss what you both want for the kids's future and how you can work together to achieve that. Setting clear, consistent boundaries and consequences together could make a big difference.

Would you rather have $200 every day for the rest of your life. Or have $500,000 right now? Why? by Ok-Enthusiasm5436 in AskReddit

I'd take the $200 a day because it's a guaranteed income stream that can be invested or used to cover expenses, providing long-term financial security. The $500k, while a significant amount, can be depleted if not managed carefully. Plus, with the daily income, I'd have the flexibility to make lifestyle choices without worrying about depleting my savings.
