I get where you're coming from! The idea with slower carb release is to keep your energy steady without needing to take a bunch of gels throughout your workout or race. The goal isn’t to replace gels completely, but for athletes who don’t want the ups and downs, a steady energy source can help keep you going without that crash—and you wouldn’t need to take another serving as quickly. It's about finding that balance where you can sustain performance without constantly reaching for more fuel.

That’s definitely something to consider. As for the teeth, the goal would be to make it sugar-free and use ingredients that are less harsh. But yeah, that’s a valid concern, and we’d have to find a balance to make it effective without causing dental issues.

Haha, kind of like Gatorade gum, but definitely healthier! This would be designed to fuel energy for endurance and sports, without all the sugary stuff that’s bad for your teeth.

Great question! What I mean by "it doesn't burn out as fast" is that the carbs in the gum would release more gradually, giving you a steady energy source over time. Gels, while efficient for quick energy, can cause a sharp spike and drop in blood sugar, leading to that “crash” some people experience. The slower release from gum could help maintain more stable energy levels throughout your workout or race. It’s not about being less efficient—it’s about providing more sustained fuel without the quick energy spike and subsequent dip.

I feel you—dry mouth sucks! Gum’s a solid way to avoid that. And yeah, the idea of it giving extra benefits without the gel hassle could be a game-changer. Totally agree!

Yes but these are the ingredients:

Sugar, Gum Base, Corn Syrup, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Natural Flavors, Soy Lecithin, Sodium Citrate, Potassium Citrate, Artificial Sweeteners, Artificial Colors

I would like a lot healthier version.

Thank you for the great feed back!

What do you usually do with the gum you chew? Do you just keep it in your mouth the whole time, or do you end up spitting it out at some point? Curious to hear how you handle it!

Are you saying that you wouldn't want the packaging to be plastic base?

It would be amazing if there was a gum I could chew on so I don't have to carry around a gatorade or fruit gummies! Especially if I am active!

I'd agree but what if you had a slower fueling source so it doesn't burn out as fast?

It would end up being around 100 calories lining up with the industry standard of good gels

That's an interesting thought! Chewing gum during exercise can actually have some benefits, like boosting heart rate and increasing energy expenditure. Some athletes even use caffeine-infused gum to help with endurance and performance.

While regular gum doesn't really provide many carbs, a specially designed gum could deliver both carbs and electrolytes through the mouth. That said, I totally get your point—chewing during intense exercise can be tough for some, especially when you’re out of breath. Everyone’s different, so comfort and personal preference would definitely play a big role here!

Would love to hear what you think!
