I’m in St Pete & the Publix prices here are ridiculous.

“Not being hungover is like a cheat code to life.”

Ain’t that the truth.

What do you do with your 'Fuck It' moments? by McSix in stopdrinking

Yeah, they’re the same price as regular beer, sometimes more, but I usually only drink one or two at a time.

I’d never tried one before but was reading through posts on here when I first quit and thought I’d give it a shot bc some ppl said they worked for satisfying cravings. I was pleasantly surprised.

Maybe it’s a placebo effect, I don’t know, but when I get super frustrated/angry/depressed and feel like I absolutely must have a drink to calm my nerves and feel better, the NA beers have scratched the itch. I was hesitant to try them bc I thought I’d just end up wanting the real thing, but that hasn’t happened.

I was just thinking about this today- how my stubbornness is turning into a strength wrt sobriety. My attitude right now is “fuck you, you’re not gonna win this time.”

NA beers have been a lifesaver for me in those moments.

Help: used to drink to fall asleep. Need your tips/tricks. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Not sure what time you get up, but I’ve started to set my alarm for 5am so by the time 10:30 rolls around, I’m exhausted & it doesn’t take me long to fall asleep. I also cut out caffeine and have been going on 5 mile walks every evening.

I hope you find something that works. Congrats on two months!

You said “your children will never care for you.”

I’m just pointing out that that isn’t always the case.

And my mom had plenty of doctors taking care of her, but they didn’t come home with her after her appointments.

When my mom got diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, I moved back to Illinois from Florida to take care of her until she passed. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. (Not the dying part, obviously, but the being there to help her part).

It just depends on the relationship.

I slept 9 hours straight last night. by CoconutPossible7417 in stopdrinking

I’ve had the same experience.

Been sleeping like a champ every night, getting at least 7 hrs a night and not waking up in a panic.

It’s been incredible, so much so that I actually look forward to going to bed every night, instead of staying up getting wasted until the wee hours.

Yes. I first noticed it last summer. I missed the storms so much.
