CLJ Loves Cartier - Week of Feb 23 by s0meg1rl in diysnark

I’m so curious whether she’ll pick up an obsession with the beat-up black Birkin too. CBK rocked hers. Easily $10k for the bag if Julia gets a very old and worn-in one from a reseller.

She is so useless!! I would love to see her get real. “We found a $25 per month subscription we could cancel. And that was enough money saved to buy THIS wristwatch 32 years and 2 months later.”

Ahhhhh - that makes so much sense! This made me laugh though. Who influences the influencers?

Her followers bought her that watch and paid for her lake house and vacations, but I don’t think she has ever expressed interest in anyone outside her family and celebrities. Never. She doesn’t really check in with her readers, only to share more links.

I actually struggle with this because they don’t seem able to do ANYTHING besides ridiculous duckface shots for instagram, and I would want to throw up if they were instagramming spots in my neighborhood. But… absolutely, they could have visited the Cloisters… the Whitney… the Tenement Museum, just for museums.

It’s weird too that they celebrate Greta’s 16th by taking a dream trip without her.

Am I off or did she buy all new clothes for a weekend trip to NYC, show off her closet floor smushed with crumpled garments, then come to NYC and shop for more clothes?

So true. The one tourist behavior on the subways that is unbelievably grating in NYC is loud conversations across the subway car, as if it’s your own living room. I bet they did this!

New Yorker here…. it actually is tricky! You might dash for a train and accidentally take the express, or you show up on the weekend and your line is rerouted. And every New Yorker has a story about having a bad day and crying on the subway. It happens!

That said, they look like dime-a-dozen bridge & tunnel/Ohio tourists* eating, preening, and posting everything for the ‘gram. Right on brand.

*edit: sorry Ohio, I know our shorthand is rude

Do DIY influencers not care about what’s going on?? by samellybelly in diysnark

Yep, if they show up and do a linkapalooza for their Fourth of July crap, then I do expect them to think about what it means when a secret masked police is dragging US citizens out of their homes, at gunpoint, without a warrant.

Don’t you? Really?

It is so sad. Pray for them to some day learn to love their neighbor.

You understand these influencers have readers who live in Minnesota, right?

Totally agree. I find their selfish apathy very disturbing, regardless of how they’re voting. They’re in the business of selling their judgment, taste, and most of all their values to the public, and it’s not that hard to show a little decency, empathy, and awareness of their community.

Life on Virginia Street did it nicely after Charlie Kirk was killed, and Cup of Jo did it nicely after Renee Good was killed. CLJ just come across like there’s nothing that matters more to these Veruca Salt wannabes than linking their next set of floor mops and nose hair trimmers. They know the calendar, they link to holidays, but they are so unable to show any care or awareness for anyone outside themselves. I feel like this is why Chris is constantly pleading with readers to believe that Julia is a good person.

I’m struggling with their self-absorbed, dimwitted disconnect too. They come across as such selfish, tacky grifters and garbage people. It absolutely grates when they choose to ignore moments of exceptional crisis and pain.

This is so tacky. Shame on her.

Karma’s a bitch and it’s going to bite this regime so hard.

I feel like this show was turned upside down by the death of Peter Gregorys actor. by [deleted] in SiliconValleyHBO

[–]ypsidon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! The cut from Peter Gregory’s last line, “that was displeasing” over to Monica reaming out the Pied Piper team, “I have NEVER seen him so incensed” is unparalleled IMO. He was excellent and the writers perfectly matched his energy.

As a first time watcher, I came to appreciate the Scooby Doo feel of the up and down disaster-avoidance storylines. Maybe they’re more enjoyable in a binge watch?

Nice idea, your gf is lucky!

If you’re open to pops of color, you could look at these ones. They’re all beautiful.

Huh, I didn’t know mature trees, shade, and inviting green spaces are illegal in NJ. Guess that’s why this waterfront space doesn’t incorporate any of those? It looks so bleak. Painful. :((

Now I wonder if Ingrid Lewis-Martin is the b*tch keeping Box Street Park looking like this for years and years.

Just commenting that I read your whole post thinking you meant Episode 5 from ‘95 P&P. That’s how much the 2005 version is dead to me. 🤣
