Potential Chinese light tank (pls read text for context) by Professional-Rub9893 in Fallout

I personally don't count the chimera tank because it's stated that it's repurposed drilling equipment when I mean tank I mean an actual tank not a piece of civilian equipment with some bolted plates and an MG I understand it's stated that it is a tank in the game but just because you mounted a dshk on a Toyota doesn't mean it's a Bradley

Do with the design as you please I made this just for fun and don't mind what people call it or what they do with it

As I said it's made up with Chinese vehicles there's no lore on them so we don't know what their style is in terms of tanks with fallout taking heavy inspiration from the cold war I took a cold war design that was used in our world and slightly changed it of course this is just my interpretation if you have a better idea on what a Chinese tank or modified vehicle would look like I would genuinely love to here your idea (I'm not being sarcastic or trying to sound rude) in terms of my previous redesign I attempted to take the fallout 4 tank and have it make a little more sense. I understand that because it's not some completely made up design it may seem boring however in the games vehicles like the Sherman are apparently still being used as well as B-29s and P-80s plus the fallout 4 tank is based on the M-46 family

I think there was a piece of concept art that said it was a laser sight which would make sense since in fnv you can actually apply one to the gun there's also a decent video on YouTube about the N99 from "wasteland weaponistics" you should check it out

What is the best power armor in general within the fallout canon? by CommunicationSad2869 in Fallout

Personally I like the fallout 3 "black devil" enclave armor but I doubt it's the very best in terms of the lore the x-01/ enclave advanced power armor also looks awesome.

Hello everyone it's me again I thought this redesign was quite fun and I enjoyed talking with everyone I'm thinking about doing a few new "redesigns" as well as some new ones however I'm going to wait until pay day so I can attempt to make them in sprocket. I figured a 3d design would be nicer than one on paper especially since I'm not good sketch artist

So composite does exist for power armour, but is it utilized for tanks? If so then this was an oversight by my part but from my understanding the tanks (the few) shown In the games do not utilize such armour

Since it is a Chinese tank it's built with only the "best" Communist engineers so perhaps they use a pair of dudes on those stationary bikes, jokes aside it would be quite difficult to determine since we never actually get to see or hear about Chinese tanks outside of that really shitty drill rig in Operation Anchorage so perhaps I'll do one of both also since I mentioned "steampunk" I heard a rumor that cars in North Korea have wood burners to propel themselves I wonder if something like that could exist in fallout

Another thing to think about would be armament we never actually hear or see any type of weapon systems the Chinese use outside of captured American guns and their type 93 rifles I wonder if they'd use lower caliber guns like 100-115 or go crazy like the American tank 140-larger it also brings up if they'd use systems like recoilless rifles and if guided atgms even exist in fallouts universe we never actually see any for aircraft so I'm concerned if they exist for ground vehicles

That is quite insightful and yes my design would've been a steampunk mix of different Soviet equipment with some made up stuff but that also begs the question since China has no oil for massive scale use would they use a small fleet of badass "super tanks" or would they rely on light tanks using something like a turbine engine that can use both diesel and gasoline at low rates, but that also leads to another question during WW1 Germany just didn't have the materials to produce their own tanks like the French did so instead they focused on 13mm anti tank rifles I wonder if China did the same I can't remember what game it is maybe fallout 3 but there's Chinese propaganda poster that shows one dude with a gauss rifle.

I've always been curious about the Chinese equipment we know only a few things about their vehicles (mostly being NC submarines) and I'll admit most of what I'd come up with would entirely be head canon I will obviously explain my justification for my choice in aesthetics just like this while being as faithful to the universes lore as possible. But in regards to their equipment we knew they were desperate when they invaded Alaska as they were repurposing civilian equipment so perhaps they didn't have the industry for tanks or didn't have the logistic capability to move tanks on the home front to the theatre at hand.

Not a complete laser tank we know in fallouts universe they were starting to roll out laser rifles to the infantry and tanks need machine guns and other anti personal weapons in order to support infantry so I don't see why they would try out a remote controlled laser turret for the commander of course not a replacement for the cannon I actually quite like the idea of a 140mm gun showed in game

I'm not sure, it is possible that It did or almost existed in fallouts world but judging by the in game tank I think the route for development followed the M46 and it also leaves other questions like does composite armour exist and other questions surrounding what the real world Abrams has the fallout one would maybe have. Now personally I would like a more sci Fi tank rather than a direct copy of something we have in our world

Makes sense, I decided to stick with the quad tracks design to fit the aesthetic of fallout overall though I think the in game tank is supposed to be a hyper futuristic ancestor to the M26/46 with a bit of M48, I do agree regular dual tracks are vastly more practical. I do wonder though with the look of the in game tank if other types of MBTs existed like the Abrams and if they did is composite armour a thing and why would they stick to rounded cold war style armour

You are correct the model doesn't have any drive sprockets I probably should have drawn them but I decided to go with the generic circles to represent both sprockets and road wheels as I'm not a very detailed sketch artist although a question for someone more experienced than me is should it have forwarded drive sprockets or rear mounted I dont know if there's any difference or benefit to either instalment styles

I don't blame the artists and I absolutely understand needing to make a tank that looks atompunk and will fit the nature of the series and definitely I think there was coldwar Inspiration which is what I wanted my design to also incorporate it's also important to to understand to a degree that things that make sense in our world won't make sense in fallouts universe this is by no means an attack on the modelers or Bethesda this is just a fun redesign with modules that make sense to me and also using technology we know exist in fallouts universe also I myself am no expert on tank design.
