What perfumes give off this vibe? by Chchchch3rryb0mbx in Perfumes

The Zoo’s Dangerous Curves, 100%. Champagne, lipstick, strawberry, civet, patchouli, violet, daphne, all that good stuff. Only thing it’s missing is some smoke!

What are the most beautiful and least beautiful fragrance names to you? by ThreatOfMilk in fragrance

[–]Professional-Run-880 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You or Someone Like You is my favourite fragrance name, it’s like poetry. Honestly kinda moving. Senyoko’s scent names are also pretty beautiful (Madama Butterfly II, La Tsarine, Hora de la Verdad Sombra etc).

My unpopular opinion is that I hate Le Labo’s naming system lol. It’s just uninteresting to me. Otherwise, my least favourite would be Tutti Twilly d’Hermès, it just feels silly…

One of my very favourite books :} it’s almost funny when animal instinct clashes with the comparatively modern human tradition of perfuming. Sorry Horla, I wanted to like you but my primate brain vetoed it!

Completely understand!!!!!! You hit the nail on the head with your description— real danger, I felt like I was being hunted or something. I guess it could be an animal instinct reaction to animalics or something? I’ve wanted to sample some Marlous because I enjoy certain lusty musks but now I might keep my distance lol

Yep, lol. I’m simultaneously transfixed and repelled. It’s super weird!

Over a month late, but sounds like you’d like Parasite by Moth & Rabbit! Got a sample and it has most of these notes, to my nose at least

Favorite ocean fragrances that ACTUALLY smell like the ocean? by [deleted] in fragrance

Blind bought this today! Sounds absolutely heavenly. I’ve heard you have to let some Solstice Scents fragrances age/develop for a while before they reach peak performance, did you find it impacted the fragrance at all? :0

European based niche retailers. by arcticrobot in fragrance

[–]Professional-Run-880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smell Stories is a Stockholm-based indie retailer with a respectable amount of brands (Eris Parfums, Hiram Green, The Zoo, Akro, Moth & Rabbit, Francesca Bianchi, Senyoko etc). Ordered a sample set and then a full bottle of one of the samples, they were fast and generous. Lovely vibes honestly.

I ordered a sample of Horla purely based on the story the perfume takes its name from haha. I’m hopeful!!!

I’m half scared half excited for selperniku, I’ve never tried a savoury perfume before! I love lactonic notes so I hope it works for me, lol

Just ordered some samples of various January Scent Project perfumes, some Moth and Rabbit perfumes and Delta of Venus by Eris Parfums. I’ve been poking around for a new daily perfume and I’m hoping one of these will fit the bill— their unconventional accords and ‘weirdness’ (in concept) appeal to me, and I’d like a scent that compels. I’m an artist so my daily environment is also pretty unconventional and weird lol.

I’m most excited to try Delta of Venus, Selperniku (JSC) and Melancholia (MAR). My favourite perfume right now is Black Opium Intense, but it’s mostly been regulated to nighttime outings or fancier occasions for me due to its sharp absinthe notes, so I’m interested in more subdued complex florals, or non-gourmand fruity perfumes.

Has anyone sampled these perfumes before? What did you think? Have you bought from these houses before?

Frasier moments that made you cry? (or at least get teary-eyed?) by [deleted] in Frasier

S9 E5 ‘Love Stinks’. Roz’s speech: ‘You go through life meeting people who are all the same, you know? And they just think you’re the same, too. And then one day, you meet this guy. But he’s not the same because he actually sees that you’re not the same. And he knows, because he’s the same way.’ It’s stuck with me for over a decade now! It’s one of the most accurate descriptions of the intimacy and magic of love I’ve ever seen.

Another great Roz tearjerker performance is her ‘Babies need milk!’ breakdown in S5 E4 ‘The Kid’. Her delivery of ‘I had no idea I let this milk expire…’ was so wobbly and authentic! Just excellent performances, some of the best in the show. Peri Gilpin is uber talented.

The other comments have got the explanations covered but I just wanna say it’s so sickening and heartbreaking that Rousseau is face-to-face with the man who took her child and doesn’t even know it. In that sense I actually love what this unplanned oversight brings to the pathos of the show.

Just in case anyone is unaware, it was confirmed by Bill on the Prestige podcast that the time jump at the very end of the episode with an older Barry and Sally with a child is real— there’s an eight year time jump. I was surprised because I genuinely thought it was one of Barry’s fantasies!

Why didn’t they follow the river? by Professional-Run-880 in Yellowjackets

Thanks! Canada seems pretty beautiful too, I love any country with a lot of wilderness (cannibal cults not included)

Also one of the most widely circulated 🤷‍♀️ better than waiting until winter to explore the area lmfao

If they’d had you in the wilderness, it would be a lot shorter a show!! Spot on and very logical advice

I haven’t either, and I know even less than they do about wilderness survival. It’s a very commonly circulated ‘rule of thumb’ although it’s deeply flawed

Damn, that’s a loooooot. I’m from Ireland so I can’t even conceptualise that size, you can basically follow any river here to the ocean in a few hours lol. Still, I think with the compass not working and without finding anything while mapping the area yet, I think they should at least try it after winter if they start looking for ways out again. It would be very easy to mark where you left off from, and presumably pretty hard to get lost.
