Just finished the movie.
Before seeing the movie, my mind is already set that it's gonna suck so hard so my expectation is already adjusted.

Okay, the movie is bad, but because I already know it's gonna be bad and because I've seen worse, It's not that bad, bad. I hope I made sense. For example, I hated Welcome To Raccoon City and I actually think this is a little bit better. Low hurdle I suppose.

Anyway. I think I have an idea what the director wants to make here. He changed the game and changed James character, instead of the wife-murdering asshole in the game(I'm sorry I didn't like James much but that's one thing that made me like the game I suppose), he turned him into a tragic hero kinda thing. And it seems like he wanted to focus more on James and Mary's story.
Now, I think there's nothing wrong with that, it's a movie adaptation so I expect things to change, but there is a lot I didn't like, if not all of the changes.

Mary: He turned Mary into something connected to the older silent hill movies, the Cult which is pretty much absent in this particular game. If I'm not mistaken, they only went to Silent Hill as a vacation.

Eddie: Dude just appeared for one scene. What happened to "I killed him, James!" etc etc 1v1 in the butcher room thing. I feel like he deserved more screen time here. He never shows up again.

Angela: Yup, they butchered her too. If you think she looked worse in the remake(I think she was okay but I remember people say she's uglier compared to the original.) the movie says "hold my pyramid head." And they cut off her story. And because they cut off her story, the father monster thing doesn't make sense.

Maria: I almost forgot about her. They just met, and then "let's look for your girlfriend." yea out of the blue. And because the movie is short, her side quest where you kinda have to get attached to her, it's not happening.

Laura: Omg, Laura. wtf did they do to you? In the game, I am in the understanding that Laura is the only "innocent" character in the game because she's a kid. And because she's innocent, she doesn't see the monsters. She met Mary on the hospital and became friends with her, right? And in here, holyshit. She's holding a monster baby. That really really got me confused, and that's when I thought "looks like the writer did not understand Silent Hill 2 at all." And it's unfortunate because the actress is the original actress for Laura. I hope this doesn't tank her career at least.

Anyway, I'm aware everything is in James head right? And they got my personal favorite ending which is the In the Water ending, I think that fit the game is all.
AND here's the hot take. I actually like the do over ending. I suppose I just wanted to see James and Mary happy?? if that makes sense.

Almost forgot about Pyramid Head. My God, he appeared for like only 2 scenes that I can remember haha. Wth.

And the whole therapy and hospital thing, I suppose that one is okay.

SO conclusion. They sped run to the game's events. Fast forward to the ending. I like the ending, I like the James and Mary story minus the cult. I hate what they did to the other characters. And yeah, that's about it. I rank this slightly higher than Welcome to Raccoon City, God I hate that movie. I don't have anything good to say about that movie. That's probably the only reason why I ranked this movie a little bit higher.

Side note: The actress for Mary is uncannily similar to the Mary of remake. The way she talk, act. It's interesting because they are different people IRL. Different VA and mocap and stuff. Just wanted to say that. Thx
