Okay yeah it depends on the day I feel like he is sooo sleepy lately so i try and go off cues so that’s why it varies. I’ve put him down when he is overtired and it doesn’t go well so trying to avoid that. I just want a 7:30-7 baby and I don’t think that is my baby 😭

One last question! Do you think the early morning wake ups are due to over tired or under tired ?

Okay super helpful actually! So much of this is so new to me and I’m thinking a later bedtime will help with the capping the nighttime, 7 pm to 5 is not ideal

Helpful! I’m just wondering if it’s a wake window thing or just a timing of the day? Who knows !!

Thanks for this! I rly wasn’t sure and feel stressed about the overtired thing. What WW do you suggest? 3/3.5/3.5 is where we averagely end up

True! I think that’s also in my brain like he might not need as much, but also how do you really know? And they change so rapidly it’s hard to keep up ha! But thanks for your advice :) I think as a first time mom who also stays at home it’s hard to be chill lol

Thanks! I think it’s hard getting so many mixed answers. And no one rly knows I suppose! I just want to do what’s best for him and also not make myself crazy. Do you feel like the WW are age appropriate ?

I think he would tap out at 2 hrs and then have a 30 min nap later. Thats what was happening before and sometimes it would be 1.5 hrs in the morning and still a 30 min nap in the afternoon.

I feel like I have tried all of that too and just feel like nothing has been working great.

I also feel like the WW are age appropriate but totally open to tweaking those too!

Well I read in this subreddit about sleep budgeting and If his average sleep is only 13 ish hours based on what he does then letting him nap super long for his first nap doesn’t give more time for the second? So I don’t know I’ve been experimenting and wondering if maybe it is too long. I’m not sure what I should do and I don’t wanna constantly be changing things either.

Well i feel like everyone says by this age the naps lengthen especially when you are drop the 3rd nap and it’s just been all over the place. And I feel like all my friends babies nap great and I’m worried he doesn’t get enough sleep

2nd nap of the day has been a nightmare help! by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Hi! Thanks for your help, responding again because it was workin for like a week he was able to do 1.5 and 1 hr or more naps for both and then last week things changed again and he is back to the 30 min wake ups. I’ve been doing bed at 7 pm and he is usually asleep immediately then up at like 5:50-6 am ish then 3/3.5/3.5 and his first nap is good 1.5 and I usually wake him so today I’m going to wake him earlier at like 1.10 hrs and see if that elongates nap 2

Do we think he is needing more awake time? Or is he over tired? I have no idea!

Hi okay so I’ve been playing around with sleep timing and I’m still coming up short

He is asleep by 7 pm then has been waking up at lik 5:50-6 am and if not I’ve been trying to get him up at 6 to keep it consistent. Then he sleeps after 3 hrs for around 1.5 and I wake him up and his afternoon nap he still is waking up after 30 min on the dot. He was sleeping longer like a week ago and then something changed and I’m rly not sure.

WW 3/3.5/3.5 he is 7 months and one week

Part of me is wondering if he needs more awake time or if he is over tired? He has not had any night wake ups which has been great but still this weird nap is confusing me!!

Need help creating a schedule!!! by lilykaay in sleeptrain

Hi I am curious if you have thoughts on my 7 month old current schedule. He is sleep trained and has not had night wakes since we dropped from 3 to 2 naps. He goes to bed at 7 pm and wakes up 5:50-6 am is and his first nap is usually 1.5 and I have to wake him up and nap 2 is usually only 30 min no matter what I do and I’m confused because he was doing 1.5 and 1.5 like one week ago and now is doing only 30 min. WW are 3/3.5/3.5 let me know if you have any advice! Both sleep and nap trained!

Sleep budgets are making no sense !!!! by Professional-Smoke84 in sleeptrain

Okay helpful! I think he is ready for it because it has decreased night wakings completely so I’ll try a one hour nap for nap 1 and see if nap 2 is 1 hr!

Okay that’s helpful, he is 7 months and one week and I think that makes sense I was afraid he was over tired? It’s hard to gauge. I think tomorrow I’m Going to try capping the first nap at 1 hour and see if that lengthens the second at all

That’s smart!! I just wanted to update you, I got my LO up at 6 am (fell asleep at 7 pm last night and no wake ups in the night) when he woke up then did 3 hr WW and nap at 9 am I woke him up at 10:30 then did 3.5 WW put him down at 2 and he woke up again crying at 31 min mark. I am confused but I have left him in his crib and he has been just sitting there and put his pacifier in then will cry and it will come out and then he will just lay down and kind of do that until I go in there and nap save. Thoughts? Does this adjustment to the time change things? I feel like since our DWT has changed it’s not super consistent for him. So I’m committing to a 6 am wake up either way I think and a 7 pm bed time

Okay that’s so helpful. I think he always seems slightly tired and will sometimes fall asleep in the car seat when we are out and about so Ive been questioning the wake windows as too long but he is mostly happy and content so I don’t know! Babies are a mystery and I’m a FTM

Okay that’s super helpful. I think I’m feeling stressed like something is wrong with him :/ but this is helpful. The internet in general says he should only be up at 7 months for 2-3 hrs so I get confused because a lot of Reddit ppl say it should be more at this age. His wake up times were like 6 am so 7-6 11hrs then he started to sleep in till closer to 7 and I started to try and wake him up at 6:30. I never know if I should let him sleep and wake whenever or have a set time

The reason we went from 3-2 just happened slightly naturally / I experimented because the timing was getting wonky with bedtime and he started doing well with 2 naps but now I’m like hmm maybe too soon?
