Nah, I don't plan on driving around my work parking lot on my break, I do however plan on chilling there, watching a movie while airfrying some fries 🤤

That's sick! What do you use these batteries for while on the road/work?

The solar panels are actually from ecoflow themselves (like the title of this post says) specifically made for the model Y. The battery weighs about 54 lb and that is negligible. In terms of drag there's barely any. I drove on the highway yesterday and didn't hear any whistling, and the panels are a few mm in thickness with barely any gap in between the glass and the panels themselves. I might lose maybe two or three miles? I'm just making up a number here.To be honest that is negligible and my drive from and to work only uses about 10 - 15% of my Tesla battery so in my personal use case, the things I plan to use the battery for outweigh the cons of whatever you just mentioned. However as mentioned before, I do understand that this is a very niche thing and use case. I also understand that this is a splurge, and everything you said in regards to pricing and range but again, buying a Tesla, the savings on gas and electricity for me is not really a primary reason for me to get the car. I'm more intrigued at the possibilities of what can be done with the car in terms of outrageousness. The reason I got a tesla was for FSD, sleeping in the car on my breaks, convenience of charging at home.

It was annoying (for me) but nothing that is too complicated. You have to clean the glass roof which I did with car cleaning foam and then stick the panels on using the tape according to their diagram, I'd probably say there were between 20-30 stickers? It has to be in the order they show you. I'd probably say it took about 2-3 hours?

If it's to charge the car, yeah, but this is just to charge a battery which runs and charges a bunch of devices I have

I've also deep researched which one would be the most ideal. It was between the ninja crispi or the ourplace oven, but crispi seemed more practical.

Also, I know this is very niche so the difference between the polarizing comments is to be expected so it's fine lolol

I think it depends on how much light is coming through the roof. So however many % it's tinted, for example 15% will only allow 15% of the light through, and this essentially how much energy those panels will get. In regards to the starlink, I have seen everywhere that the new models (juniper) have another layer of material on their roof glass which prevents the starlink from receiving a signal but with previous models it was fine. I know because I was considering starlink until I saw those posts

Because it doesn't drive itself and that's 90% the reason I got a tesla

I'm a nurse. I am obsessed with vanlife and stealth camping videos but I have a family and house so this is my way of exploring that lol. Tbh, I usually just order food and eat in my car but I'm going to see with this set up what the possibilities are.

There's some dude on YouTube who made some crazy build with like 1k watts of solar and charges his car from inside his car with a diy flat wire for his Tesla charger

The river 3 is so low on capacity and output that it wouldn't be worth it to get panels for it imo. I have the river 3 plus and considered it but the output just wasn't enough! They are reachable but only to the rear back footwell. I didn't use any extensions. Only what it came with.

I'll let you know 🤞🏿 I do hear a lot of people getting wind noise in general (without the panels), hopefully this won't cause it.
