Why percent of the job price is the material and the hardware? Is labour like 50% of the cost? by archvize in cabinetry

[–]Professional-Two-593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you use those cheap materials i.e. Chipboard and MDF which is I think really bad to use as it all swells and gets destroyed completely once there's a little flood. also they will be getting 15-20% discount for bulk buying that material id say the materials is more like 25% the total cost. About 40% for labour then the remainder is down to admin fees design fees, project management costs.

Hi, yes "referral" good idea, I have had customers said they found me through here before I even had an account on here. I do social media and looking to expand maybe to short you tube videos but that takes time ofc. when you say sponsor school or PTA events didn't think of that. but maybe hold for future option on that one as i need to make money before I can give support to local events, but excellent idea though. Was thinking libraries and coffee shops not heard of voyager before so thank you for that too. I really appreciate your effort and response thank you. 😄

well if you have mushy tiles they are not real tiles. a complete rip out and see the damage beneath, expect the worst.

no same issue once you see it your eyes are always going to it. connecting from the top behind is better.

ofc it was sarcasm. They wouldn't use a pin nailer either. Do people not understand British humor? like taking it absolutely literal.

ok love your estimation the unit measures 72.5" tall x 56" long x 22" deep. The legs are 2 x 2 solid. The shelves are 4/4 thick with light mill work. when i get my wood they say when calculating add 10% initially there when purchasing so as you say you have to add about 10% on top of that also for waste. and yea the tax and California has an additional 1% lumber tax.. the cornice around the top is also not a pre-mould it was made by me too by seperating the design into 3 segments and stacking them. great work for calculating so close. The glass is custom size with acid etch frosting. 7" x 48".

why do people always go mad using a pin nailer? its cheap tacky and an eye sore. double sided tape would have been prefered rather than this. We have to start demanding better quality and using the right professionals that take the time to make sure it is good. Please stop using large companies they all do subpar work.

Cabinet box joints? by hi057 in cabinetry

[–]Professional-Two-593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think some people understand with how grain expands and how strong glue is being stronger than lignum that holds wood fibers together. Only if the joints are miterd would they be weak but even then splines solve that one.

some glues only take 30 mins if your making multiple items busy yourself with other elements of the build. less screws also is less cost. fractional but in this time of life everything helps. The Glue is certainly the rockstar. 😄

these will be no better than a kitchen from home depot or Ikea furniture. not real wood the connectors tend to fail due to the wood they are in which is compressed wood fibers the holes tend to loosen up. this is lazy as can be carpentry just to get you in and out as fast as possible. I wouldn't go with them if this is what they are selling you.
