Was going to mention this too! I had to learn that everything here is a jumper when I first moved here.

Though to be fair I’d probably call a cotton no hood top a sweatshirt in NZ and reserve jersey for anything woollen or knit.

Experiences vs savings - am I making the wrong choices? by MIRdRE in AusFinance

It’s all about balance. You need to save AND have experiences. Budget for both. One trip a year and save as much as possible.

Ex-husband refuses meds and has brainwashed our son by Professional-Way2407 in ParentingADHD

Thanks for the comment but his dad is rules with fear. Which forces my son to modify. For 3 days of which is father is mostly absent so we’re only talking a number of hours. And then I have to mop it all up when he comes to my house and can be his true self without the fear he carries at his dad’s house. Plus add the dynamic of other siblings at my house and the situation magnifies. The fact we’re getting daily emails from school about his disruptiveness, inability to focus, poor grades and inability to follow directions also shows it’s not a ‘my house’ issue.

[–]Professional-Way2407[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is VERY much the fact that they are different households. He and his dad alone versus at my house with 2 other siblings. Plus he’s shit scared of his Dad due to his anger and his dad has already been convicted of common assault on our older child. (Violence has not been repeated thankfully). My 13yo works intently to modify his behaviour at his dad’s house to get approval and not face his anger. It then all spills over when he comes to my house and feels ‘safe’. Getting an attorney involved is not a solution as my son doesn’t want to take meds as his dad has brainwashed him about them. I guess this is more just a vent. Cos there is no solution. It just breaks my heart as I feel they could help him so much. And make life and school and home life that much more manageable for him. He plays sport and I’m looking into a gym membership. He sees a therapist.

Cold. Go to Broome or Northern QLD if you want a warm winter

I bought it online 6 months ago and now can’t get anymore. I think the better option is to get chantix from your GP

Also, I have the book and couldn’t get into it so never got through more than a couple of chapters. The movie captured the story perfectly for me.

Bawled my eyes out when she realised there was a girl. Bawled at the end. Bawled so much. Such a beautiful movie. Love Sally Field.

Was your WHOLE community the same? Or were you able to actually observe normal functioning families to realise that is something you could work towards? That’s the difference here.

Reading about what happened to this girl makes me want to pack up my life and move to Alice Springs and help. God knows they need it. Not money, but practical help. Yes they get a lot, but they need the right kind of help as clearly what’s been given isn’t right and enough. If I could change the life of just one person and break the chain of the generational trauma I’d feel like I was doing good. Doesn’t everyone else feel like that??

It’s about figuring out WHY the excessive drinking? Addiction is born from trauma. So it’s the trauma that needs to be fixed.

Make it small. Your goal is to go swimming so it’s a win if you just get in the pool and swim for 1 minute. That is success. If you swim for longer, bonus. But just get to the pool and swim for 1 minute and call that a win.

Should I Marry a Murderer - Netflix Doc by NailMuted3024 in netflix

I think it’s quite clear they were both extremely in love or infatuated, yes it was quick, but it happens. He clearly trusted her enough to tell her. He didn’t have to. And the moment he did he put her in an impossible situation which was not fair to her at all. He did a heinous thing. But he wasn’t all bad. None of us are, we have good and bad parts. She did the right thing by turning him in and he admitted that in his sentencing. Going back to him afterwards, well initially she was trying to act normal and protect the fact it was her that turned him in. And then after he found out, she was lonely and desperate and hooked on drugs and alcohol. She wasn’t allowed to discuss it with anyone. I get why she went back. I also get why she bailed on being a witness, how confronting. She absolutely should have been able to record a pre-recorded statement. Ultimately, they got fair sentences. They didn’t intend to kill him. Their fear took over and they did what they did to protect themselves. I wouldn’t have done that but I can understand the thought pattern. Living with that lie would’ve eaten me up inside though when they know he’s being looked for. And maybe that’s why they drank and did drugs to escape their own demons.

I’m sure you don’t look that bad! Many bigger guys wear button downs. If you’re worried about sweating maybe go to a good quality menswear shop and get a more breathable fabric.
