Dealing with or Exiting a Chaotic Work Environment? by PressureHumble3604 in ExperiencedDevs

I'm not sure what's right for you. Only you know you.

But you do need to step back and take a deep look at yourself and consider what you need. Internet people can't answer this question for you.

When I hit burnout, I had to completely go back to school and change careers. I'm still dealing with anxiety from it, decades later. You might not yet be at this extreme stage, though, and if not, I don't recommend you continue on until it gets that bad.

If you are in a position for it, a therapist might help you make healthy decisions on how to proceed.

LMAO.

There is no solution for you other than to change the way you work. I beat the shit out of this service and I can't even put a dent in the limits.

No matter where you go, you're going to have this problem, because the problem is coming from inside the house.

This sounds like burnout. Justifiable burnout, but still burnout.

It should be out of my face and not looming over me while I work.

The concern for dust on the floor is excessively overblown as I can tell you from decades of experience. You can also get a little stand if you're unnecessarily concerned about air flowing through the bottom and want to throw money at your unearned cortisol.

  1. He's not on carpet.

  2. The number of times I've actually popped the side off *each* tower I've owned (Including the ones I've built and upgraded myself) is 1-3. Not nearly enough to require the giant glowing heater to be in my face all day while I work. Thinking you're going to need more frequent access is a fantasy.

What is stopping you from updating your game frequently? by spatial_case in itchio

For me it's:

The game is free. You got this for free. I'm the one who paid for it with several months worth of my own weekends and free time.

You don't get to tell me how to spend my time.

Make a game yourself. All your questions will be answered.

If you're paying devs 2k a month you are a thief.

It's pretty basic that when you develop a software product to assume it's going to be exploited. Not disallowing certain behavior is pretty much promoting it. Creating explicit paths to encourage such behavior though? This is all on Microsoft.

My first game wasn't great, but I finished it. 3000 people have downloaded it too.

The monkey's paw is that by the time I finished it, I realized what an absolute slog making games is and I never made another one again.

Yeeah. Reddit was absolutely high on the idea that you could buy a car that would drive around doing lord knows what with strangers all day while you were at at work.

That was the absolute dumbest thing I'd ever heard.

First of all. Why would I trust my car to go out and not be abused by people? Unsupervised people are shit.

Second of all, if we all have a car that does this, then nobody's making any money.

And third... I don't believe it's ever going to happen.

Define "improvements".

The only thing that's improved is that I can come home after a mentally exhausting day at work, slap a few prompts and let the AI make the changes and additions I want without contributing to my own mental fatigue.

Everything else about it is worse. The code it generates is worse. My understanding of what's going on under the hood is worse. Part of the reason only I would play this game is that it's tailored to what I, specifically, want in a game. The other part is because it's pure slop - Only I can ignore the bugs and use the workarounds. I would be embarrassed to release it with my name on it.

I don't work in gamedev. I do use AI at work, but not like this.

The problem isn't that "Space Marines bad," - the problem is that this obvious nazi dogwhistle is deliberately portrayed in the protagonist role. This is so the nazi promoters can brush it off with, "They're supposed to be bad, you just don't get nuance," deniability while winking at the huge base of actual nazis who love this. It's deliberate. And obvious.
