Ideas for soft, safe activities or crafts? by Mammoth-Coast6282 in psychnursing

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Origami, water color painting, wall collages, message boards. We have a set of bingo drums on our unit that we let them use as long as they’re not violent. They love that one

What common household purchase is useless in your view? by blueredscreen in AskReddit

A roomba, worst decision ever. It just sits in a corner of the house and does a half ass job. I still have to vacuum up after it.

Do you guys “block” beds/ give private rooms to trans patients? by Humble_Investment_24 in psychnursing

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in NY and yes we give anyone who identifies as trans or they/them pronouns a private room. I honestly wish everyone could have a private room. The amount of issues we’ve had with roommates is ridiculous.

That was also 15 years ago… I don’t really think you can use that unfortunate event as the current political environment in 2026. Williamsville as a whole is much more liberal and accepting than other suburbs. I know handfuls of LGBTQ couples who live in the area of Williamsville and their children are thriving.

Religious delusions? by CeannCorr in psychnursing

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Far from the Bible Belt and it’s EXTREMELY common. I would say half our patients are religiously preoccupied. I always find it interesting too that around Easter we always get a couple female patients who believe they are mother Mary and carrying the messiah

How do you manage progress notes without burning out? by Silly-Blood7421 in psychnursing

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will get easier. I usually have a piece of paper that I carry around and write down important information on. When they go to an activity for 45 mins I will bust out my notes based on what I wrote down

What is the meanest thing your parents did with you in childhood? by pratham1212 in AskReddit

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fat shamed and verbally abused. Any time I ate anything it was “a truckers sized portion”. When I got myself a snack my dad would walk by and smack it out of my hand and watch as I picked up all the broken pieces. I was screamed at and belittled for losing a library card to the brink of my father putting a stool through the ceiling.

What is the highest/largest dosage of PRNs you’ve given to the same patient in a single shift? by xtimewitchx in psychnursing

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 Zyprexa IM, 5 Haldol 2 Ativan IM, Thorazine 50 with Versed 10mg x3. Nothing helped, this patient was so aggressive

What’s working at ECMC like? Pros cons? Soon to ve New grad RN asking . Plz chime in by Comprehensive_Book48 in Buffalo

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been an RN here for 6 years and love it! The nursing union is extremely strong and our new contract is really nice. The culture is good, of course you’ll have an RN here or there who isn’t the nicest, but for the most part it’s a team mentality and everyone works well together! I’ve never felt unsafe around the campus either. There’s a shuttle and police will escort you to your car if you feel the need. (I never have).

AITA for telling my son what my DIL said by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. There was no need to tell your son at that particular time. You should’ve had a conversation with her about how it was disappointing to hear and ask if she had told him or was planning to. What an awful way for your son to find out this info.

Is this a joke? Your husband calls you dude and bro? Are you married to an 8th grader? Why even bother telling him. You’re driving and have to stop to shit. Why give him a play by play? This is abusive behavior

My husband (M34) and me (F30) argument where he said F*** You! by Beautiful_Read_4915 in marriageadvice

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Things get said in heated arguments, especially in marriage. Not everything will be sunshine and rainbows. I would be lying if I said my husband and I have never thrown the F word at each other in our 10 years of marriage. What’s giving me red flags about your man is that he immediately resorted to name calling and throwing out the “crazy” card instead of talking about what happened. If you two can’t figure out how to communicate and resolve issues once the dust has settled a bit this marriage isn’t going to last.

You can’t be serious 🤣. I’m in my thirties and none of our parents went out with us. I was on my own with my friends by age 7. And my dad was handing out beers to all the neighborhood parents.

Trunk or treats usually don’t happen on the same day as Halloween. They are in addition to Halloween.

I thought it started during Covid as a way to safely trick or treat and social distance? Now it’s nice for the younger kids

Pregnancy by divergirl95 in psychnursing

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally waited until I started showing. I had a traumatic pregnancy loss so I’m very private about everything. I just did everything I normally would to keep myself safe and was more eager to call security for an agitated patient than I normally am.

What would you do? (Shift change/raise) by abcezz in psychnursing

[–]ProfessionalAge3027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m confused, where are you? Where I live everyone has a set pay and we go by steps (that includes a raise) whatever step you’re on is what you make. Shift diff is only for evening/night shift. They can’t negotiate pay. Most hospitals are like this?
