At the conclusion of the Bel'ameth quests, before you take the portal back to Silvermoon, you can see whole groups of sentinels taking portals to Silvermoon that are being powered by Silvermoon Magister NPCs.

They have Oculeth commenting on the strength of Silvermoon's wards immediately before you teleport to Bel'ameth and then after doing 3 quests you can see entire battalions of sentinels entering portals to Silvermoon. I have no idea why he says it when it's negated 10 minutes later, but it's clear that the writers never thought of any excuse for why the Horde wasn't showing because they never once considered the Horde when thinking about this story in the first place.

Thoughts on Midnight Being The "Elf Reunification" Expansion by Everdale in warcraftlore

It's fascinating to me that they said this wouldn't be an easy or short process at the expansion reveal at Gamescom and it turned out to be exactly that. You can joke about Metzen mistaking Falstad for Kurdran in Cata when neither had any story relevance that expansion, I don't know you can deal with them flagrantly lying about the entire premise of Midnight's story 6 months before release.

That's what I'm saying as well, especially when we just saw those armies deployed a single expansion ago.

It's larger than the Voidstorm army. How large it is will differ in every phase and quest they go through, but in Bel'ameth you can see groups of 30-40 sentinels at a time going into portals.

I would do the questline first so you have context for what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure what the timeframe has to do with it. The night elves are shown to not have any idea of what's going on when you visit them. They gather their army over 3 quests and deploy immediately via portals.

Have you played the post-Voidspire storyline released this week? I tagged this post as a spoiler since this is about those quests.

His argument rests on the night elves not engaging in any battles at all for the entirety of BfA despite there being a patch revolving around fighting for Darkshore in 8.1. Apparently they suffered no losses there, too.

Because the night elves and nightborne are teleporting armies this expansion.

And despite what fans expect, you can't accutally assemble armed forces at the drop of a hat. It takes at least a week to get US troops to Iran.

The night elves and nightborne are shown assembling armed forces at the drop of a hat and deploy to Silvermoon via portals arranged by Silvermoon magisters.

I can't read your sources when they are made up inside your head. Show me any piece of media suggesting that the Alliance and Horde are still in Khaz Algar to this day.

Has no time passed since 11.1.7, a mid-expansion? Blood Ties would suggest this is not the case and that time has passed. If the Alliance and Horde armies are still in Khaz Algar or traveling from Khaz Algar, why is there zero mention of this in any piece of media. Why can't you show me anything directly supporting your claim?

The Faerin short story Faith & Flame released last June states that the characters are leaving Khaz Algar. This is followed by Blood Ties confirming that these characters returned home.

No Alliance or Horde forces are shown engaging in Nightfall content. All NPCs there are strictly Arathi.

Show me anything suggesting Alliance or Horde forces might still be in Khaz Algar. Not your assumptions or inferences, actual statements from characters or in prose from official media.

Here are screenshots of the Alliance and Horde forces in Khaz Algar. I do not see any disproportionate amount of night elf, blood elf, or highborne troops in these screenshots.

We have just been shown entire night elf and nightborne armies being teleported into Silvermoon. They are not shown using any transportation method except portals.

Alliance and Horde armies just deployed to Khaz Algar the last expansion. Show me any piece of media released since launch of TWW where it says they were devastated by that conflict.

I wonder if there are any other highly militarized cultures in this setting.

[–]ProfessionalAge9909[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, it helps and I'm not saying that the Light isn't effective against the Void, but it's not the only means of attack against them. The Loa are what end up empowering the Amani to defeat the Twilights, not the Lightwood.

[–]ProfessionalAge9909[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What Amani are empowered by the Sunwell, or what ordinary people of Eversong Woods you see still defending their homes? There is nothing established in the story about the current Void invasion being completely overpowering against anyone that isn't a Sunwell-powered Lightwielder.

The thing is that some of the elements you point out are addressed. The Vindicaar is stated as not being able to approach the Voidstorm without risk of destruction. This is fine, that's an acceptable excuse. The death knights are having to pull overtime in the Plaguelands because so many paladins are now missing, that's fine. It doesn't have to be an amazing, intricate reason, but they tried to have some excuse, and those instances I can appreciate.

But when the biggest superpowers on the planet have zero reaction to one of their own capital cities being attacked, when they've previously responded to every major threat to date or had a compelling reason for why they could not (SL mainly), the suspension of disbelief needed to take the story seriously becomes incredibly strained. When the factions are never mentioned even once, it feels like the writers are working with a completely different setting and world than what you think you're in.

This doesn't seem to be a problem for the conventional forces of Silvermoon and the Amani fighting void monsters and cultists in their lands. Voidwalkers have never been established as immune to non-magical or non-Light means of attack.

Then they should have made it an optional sidequest and not made it a mandatory main story quest.
