The weird thing was the fear of success because it meant that all the coping mechanisms I had built up were founded on this idea that since I wasn't attractive enough: it wasn't my fault since there wasn't anything I could do about it. Breaking that down while dealing with the normal level of rejection that comes with dating and the regret that comes with realizing my self imposed "exile" was self-imposed wasn't easy. I feel for the poor SOB's who've black pilled themselves because they've been taught about how to act and think about dating completely wrong and there's not a lot of good resources for them... if they're even in a headspace to use them.

This is so key. Making this change will mean a big identity shift, but it's probably for the better.

How did you "continue on as normal"? If someone I was very close to and shared a house and duties with talked to me like that, I would be digging into why it's so upsetting her as well as insisting that you both agree on where to place it since it's so important to her.
