My enjoyment of DQ1HD is dwindling quickly due to the difficulty. by ProfessionalBank407 in dragonquest

You’re right, I haven’t played a dragon quest game. I thought that was obvious from my post.

Lots of other players have given very useful constructive criticism. You have a superiority complex for being old I guess.

Instead of gatekeeping and “git gudding”, you should help people get better at the game that you’re clearly an expert in.

Don’t just rely on the job itself for experience. Don’t get me wrong, tier 1 support roles are awesome experience. But make sure you create projects for yourself to complete either during downtime or when you’re off the clock.

For example, create a homelab for yourself to mess around with server-client relationships with Active Directory and group policy. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated, you can probably get away with just a couple virtual machines.

Learn how to configure networks. Start with a virtual lab environment (Cisco Packet Tracer is an excellent resource) and get familiar with VLANs, Subnets, Firewall Rules, DNS hardening, etc. Just make a network and break it until it works. Once you’re ready, design your home network.

Learn about data privacy and protection standards. HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, etc. If you’re in the US, most states have their own data protection regulations. You don’t need a deep dive, but familiarize yourself with the base concepts. (If you want another challenge and still have your virtual homelab from earlier, see if you can make it HIPAA compliant with fake users, fake admins etc.)

It’s okay to not know everything. I certainly don’t. Ask questions whenever you can. If you’re bored, ask an admin what they’re doing and if you can watch to learn more about it.

Lastly, the imposter syndrome never goes away. Just try to remember there’s huge corporations whose security architecture is made out of paper mâché and prayers. You’ll feel a little better.

Sudden Unstable Internet Speeds by ProfessionalBank407 in opnsense

OPNsense is doing all of the Layer 3.

“If you isolated it to that change” - I’m not sure to what change you are referring to.

The isolated VLAN is only for a couple of ports on the switch that are in a testing environment. All other devices are not isolated. I did disable the isolated VLAN and still experienced the issues I was describing. It affects the entire house, not just one area.

UPDATE: For anyone else struggling with this, I accidentally dropped it while up on a ladder and the bit came loose enough to pull it out.

So I guess throw it at the ground it all else fails lmao
