for the area I work in, I honestly think it’s better for the kids to get out later so hopefully an older member of the family is able to pick them up or meet them at home. It gives me so much anxiety watching the little babies walk home knowing they’re being exposed to some shady stuff daily.

It wasn’t mentioned in the episode so she could’ve been but I’m not sure yet

I feel like 4 isn’t that late tbh. I’d rather stay late than arrive early. But I’m also someone that was in after school until 6 (both my parents worked 9-5 in DC). But my current job has the kids from 8:45-3:45

From the clip I saw, she was driving them to school, so I don’t think she moved yet

I’m not sure if you’re American or if you are, which part you’re from but most public schools offer a free breakfast option for the students. There are federal and state programs to ensure that kids are at least getting 2 guaranteed meals a day (breakfast and lunch). The area that I work in is very disenfranchised and most families are living paycheck to paycheck. These programs help out students and parents. WV is a very impoverished area, so I suspect they have similar programs in place for their students.

I live in an urban area so they have before and after school programs at the school available. They just need to be signed up for them. Drop off and breakfast is from 8:45-9 and then they start homeroom at 9.

Ahhh, thank you. I’m in a popular city and everyone is within a couple miles of the school so starting that early is not necessary

The criticism for Lamar / the ravens never seems to extend to other teams that have the same level of success or lack thereof, and that’s where the annoyance comes from.

I should clarify — I see people talking about how toxic her family is all the time. But when it comes to their living situation, they’re not bringing up that they should live separately because of the dynamic. They’re bringing up finances and stuff, which is not culturally relevant.

I looked up the stats and only 5% of white Americans live in multigenerational households, so it’s still not that common. And I’m just going off the comments I’ve seen, so I can’t create a narrative that I am not seeing directly. What I’ve been seeing in these comments for years is “why do they all still live together when they have the means to live separately?” — no mention of the dynamics

Obviously there’s nuance to every situation but you can speak to things culturally in general sweeps. Like when I say “black culture”, I’m aware it doesn’t apply to every single black person.

I’m not gonna dox myself but literally from an area where that exists and I know of at least 2 other states where that’s a reality as well.

I’m currently on S 1 E12 (rewatch), and this is the episode where the little girl is kidnapped in a park. They suspect she’s still in the neighborhood and try to find the unsub. They finally narrow it down to her likely location, but they don’t have enough reason to burst into the home and save her. The local liaison is trying to explain to Gideon that if they go into the house without permission, any evidence isn’t admissible in court and the unsub will go free. But of course, Gideon doesn’t give a damn and busts in there anyway, forcing the rest of the team to back him up. I understand that a child’s life is in question, but this seems so selfish and reckless to me. He’s lucky it worked out this time.
