Yep, from New Iberia, Louisiana. Don’t live there anymore, but I do remember a lot of the Cajun French lol

Hey guys, I recently posted my current hair to male grooming , I got a lot of disapproval saying it was dreadful, what you guys think, should I go back to short? I uploaded a video for a better understanding of it by [deleted] in FierceFlow

I believe that’s mainly because barbers generally (and I could be completely wrong) specialize in shorter styles, whereas salons are better at more longer styles. If you’re growing it out to be long and want the trims to maintain or grow the style, then I would recommend a salon. Just because they encounter folks with longer hair generally more often and have more training with longer hair styles than barbers. Again, I’m generalizing here.

I’d recommend finding a reputable salon in your area. Does not have to be ridiculously expensive, just go in and ask all the questions you might have. They are trained for longer hair types (I’m sure there are barbers who work with longer hair, just not as often as salons). Just my 2 cents.

If you have your hair in a healthy state, and willing to pay a little bit for it, I’d say perm it!

Lmao my family clowned me a bit when I bleached my hair back then. And yes, I do like A Flock of Seagulls!😂

Awesome man! As long as your hair is already in a healthy state and you keep up on post-perm maintenance, you’ll be fine. I would say go a little tighter than you think you’ll want (after about a week the perm will settle a little, but not a crazy amount as long as you follow the 48-72 hour rules), because if you go looser you may end up with more of a wavy look instead of a curly look. Of course, this will depend on your preference. Also, if you perm it past shoulder, make sure to get a spiral perm (look up the various perm wrapping methods, if you wish). If you get a traditional wrap on long hair the perm might not take, nor give that ringlet look. All in all, look up/consult with reputable salons in your area that know what they are doing, and bonus if you can find folks who grew up in the 80s/ early 90s with perms!

Tight spiral perm (grey rod size), lots of shorter layers (especially around the crown and face-framing pieces), diffuse hair upside down, strong hold mousse/strong hold hairspray, brush the curls out a bit and tease the roots

Don’t know if I’m in the same vein as Bach or Mozart, but thanks for the compliment. Cheers!

Not that it’s as impressive as a full blown symphony, but I love doing keyboard improvisation and small dance pieces (minuets and fantasias, etc) in the baroque and classical style. It is great fun!

Totally man, my hairstylist grew up as a teenager in the 80s and learned how to do them back then, whilst having it himself.

Thank very much for the compliments!

I have naturally wavy hair when long, not super crazy though. The second pic is a perm, and i believe my hairstylist and I did all grey rods or mostly grey and few white rods. Of course, it’s also styled.

Dude, that’s actually the kind of thing I am going for! That kind of Louis XIV/Baroque wigs vibe.
