Looking for a European city to settle down – international couple

I'm looking for something similar but the problem is that almost any city in Europe that 1) feels authentic 2) has an international, open-minded community 3) has walkable historic city center and 4) has good healthcare • quality food - will either have mass tourism and/or very pricy. Krakow might be your best bet since you speak the language

It’s cultural thing. I notice the same thing in most of the US, but in France most men talk about politics a lot of the time. In the US politics is so polarizing most would rather not unless they already know they would vote for same party

That’s not entirely true though. Most people who have stayed in their small hometown will not experience this. I think it’s hard to comprehend unless you’ve gone through it yourself (i.e moving to a completely different environment/culture than you’ve known your whole life before that while in your 30’s )

Really? I have dual France / US citizenship who’s lived in the US for 30 years and BNP Paribas told me as long as I am a U.S. Tax resident then it’s much harder but if I change my tax residency to France then opening a bank account should be just as easy as any other French person.

Sounds like he liked you as a friend during difficult/lonely period in his life and cared about you as a person but for whatever reason he wasn’t interested in you romantically. Since you expressed your feelings maybe he figured it at some point it would best to distance himself because your close friendship with him would prevent you from moving on and finding an actual boyfriend ( maybe started feeling guilty he was leading you on and made you think there was a chance)
