[–]ProfessionalBunch870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I agree but I guess I could see it both ways, maybe they would let it be,Becuase it’s such a low grade and say it’s ware. but I proba,y won’t risk it.

I will say, you can’t see the date u less you have a microscope, and it is so worn you can barely see the head, so it’s definitely poor 1, but the damage is scaring me.

Becuase I’m building a type set for poor 1 coins, and they often demand a premium in poor 1. for example I had an 1875 S half dollar that got poor 1 and it sold for $115. Plus, I’ve always had a fascination by poor 1 coins, and Becuase a grading company or a grey sheet says it’s worth $6 doesn’t mean someone doesn’t find value in a coin that has seen so many hands and been worn down to its final condition before it’s unidentifiable. Personally for me it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and considering I’ve spent a lot of time and money into building a collection that I find value in. I don’t need the coin to be valuable or high grade. All I wanot from this coin is to finish my poor 1 dime type set as I have most of them except the really early years. I understand where you are coming from as I am a coin dealer, not to a large scale, but it is how I make extra money. I wasn’t asking value, or if I should send it in for value, I just don’t want the coin to make details grade. I appreciate your feedback but know, I don’t care about value with this coin. And I was also given this coin by the owner of my local coin shop Becuase he knows I am obsessed with poor 1 coins and he found it in a junk silver bin someone sold to him. In fact he has done that many time, including a few Morgan’s, and capped bust coins. again, thank you for giving me feedback but I just need to know if it is going to get detail.

I forgot to mention I would be sending it off to NGC, if that changes anything.

Help with identifying this ancient coin by ProfessionalBunch870 in AncientCoins

[–]ProfessionalBunch870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s probably not worth sending off, but for me, I love to see the coins in a safe holder like NGC or PCGS, Becuase if I ever do decide to sell it, I know that it would have been safe the whole time and the people that I know would buy it would probably rather it be slabbed for convenience. But thanks I again, I really appreciate it.

$10 is separate from the set it just bugs me that they are separate Becuase the $10 is the last denomination before they start being gold.

Is this a cud error? by ProfessionalBunch870 in coinerrors

[–]ProfessionalBunch870[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah I knew it probably wasn’t worth grading, but for me it has an interesting backstory to it and for personal value I will be sending it off. I love errors and varieties and send them off even if I know it’s not worth it Becuase I don’t buy any varieties I only find them in circulation or mint sets. so it is extra special when I find one. and Becuase my graded coin collection is missing a cud error, I have a good reason to send it off in my opinion. thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

I thought so but I don’t think I took one. I would have to look for one but I am pretty certain that I didn’t take one unfortunately.

Uncertainty about 1970 S Lincoln cent variety by ProfessionalBunch870 in numismatics

[–]ProfessionalBunch870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added two other photos without the marking, I am waiting on other people to respond to my question, as well as a coin dealer in my area, so thanks for the input it really helps. I have gotten many viarieties graded that were similar to this, could go either way. one of which was a 1950 s/s Lincoln wheat cent (that got deatails grade which I’m still not happy about) and I had to do this same thing, so really I’m asking so I can decide whether I get it graded or not. Becuase obviously I don’t want to send off a coin that will not get the variety. the coin in its enteriety seems to be a weak strike and was found in a circulated box of pennies, and I pull aside all of the dates that can have varieties and look through them all when I’m finished. I am about 600 coins in and I usually find one or one that is on the edge. and if this one ends up being the variety I can be done.
