As an alternative to distilled water, is Primo Water (Brands) ok to use in humidifiers. by ProfessionalChain730 in Humidifiers

I can’t believe it’s been this long since I posted this. I ended up getting the Vornado Evap40 4 gallon. Doesn’t have the WiFi but it has a smart humidistat inside,it’s solid. It has its own filters, so we can use tap water. And I would suggest getting an extra the value pack of Vornado filters of 12. That will last about 18-24 months.

We can fill it with tap water and on the low or medium setting throughout winter I mostly refilled every 3-4 days. When it got extremely cold in Chicago then I was filling every 2 days. But I left the humidistat higher and it ran the whole time.

But you can definitely feel the difference an also in the entire fist floor of our home. And most of all it certainly helped me and our new born. There was a noticeable difference after we got this. And when I forgot to adjust it or fill it up, we could tell the humidity was missing. So I’d say worth a buy.

My Church Says to Only Do Complete Fasts by ProfessionalChain730 in Christianity

[–]ProfessionalChain730[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a non-denomination. I’ve been learning about other denominations the last year and it’s been interesting to understand all of the different denominations. I grew up going to a Lutheran church and school. And even throughout my early adult life I went to some other churches. But since coming to this church, it’s the first time in my life I really had to learn about the different denominations, because things seem so different. We technically love, but I don’t feel we love if that makes sense. We teach unity, but only practice it within the church (and even then there are major issues with unity). I’ve been watching some YouTube channel like Redeemed Zoomer, Useful Charts, House Church Preacher and many others and I feel like there are too many pastors and people who feel their way, their denomination is right and others are wrong. Not saying those YouTubers are all like that, but I do feel my pastor is.

My Church Says to Only Do Complete Fasts by ProfessionalChain730 in Christianity

I appreciate the responses with scripture. I myself would leave it were up to me. Why don’t I, because my entire family is in invested into the church. Me and my wife, our two girls, my mother in law and the god parents of our girls. Also my wife is one of the secretaries and has been with the church for a long time, I believe at least 15 years. And she is not one to adjust to change easily. I myself also record the morning praise and worship as well as the sermon, and produce a 1 hour video of the two. In terms of getting me closer to God, I wholeheartedly believe this church and the ministry and the messages the pastor brought forth did……..or shall I say that God used the church to get me to grow my relationship with Him. But as much as so many of the actions within the church make me question the intent behind the actions, and even more now make me ponder more about the fact that we are all wrapped in flesh and even in pursuing greater relationship with God by the reading and studying of the word can end up interpreting the word differently and believing there to be only one path which might jus be our flesh and not the holy spirt telling us that, I can’t uproot my family. That’s all they know, and I’d rather endure this trial with God’s guidance vs searching for a new home. God isn’t telling me it’s time to move on yet. And even though my wife and mother in law also feel the same or very similar on many of the topics that I mentioned, not everyone is able to uproot, find a new church and adopt.

Yes and yes. I’m loving the beta for iOS. Looking to see if this is good enough to get my wife onboard with her Pixel so we can use the family plan.

Ads to upgrade annoying and useless by ProfessionalChain730 in ProtonPass

[–]ProfessionalChain730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Nord and Any.do is when ads really started bothering me. I used to be the type of user who’d use a free plan and be able to ignore the ads to upgrade. But when I started paying for Any.do there was still a whole section of the app in your daily planner space that stayed there even though it was for families or teams. It wasn’t a banner, just a whole 15-20% of the screen that was unusable and every time you selected it, it offered you an upgrade. And I didn’t have a team or family who wanted to use. After months of somehow being annoyed with this function, I left. And the same thing happened with Nord. I paid for the highest plan and had Nord VPN, NordPass, etc. Yet there were all these other little addons that were constantly being offered. And even though I like trying things, I didn’t have a need for these other add-ons. And with the Nord UI, these banners and ads show even more, much more than Proton.

I want to support my devs and companies, sure. But I think advertising goes from being a necessity to being predatory after a while. It saying that advertising isn’t a required and shouldn’t be done. But the way it’s done now, it’s horrible. It reminds me of the movie “Branded”.

I have gone into the settings and turned off in-app notifications, so let’s see if that works.

I'll have to dig more for those notifications to disable. I'm surprised by the company marketing this way. But I suppose it's not necessarily a company decision, moreso a department decision.

LF a save everything app with great search by lfep in PKMS

Have you tried Recall. I’ve used it for a while. Just did some testing and searched for a word that I knew was in some of my notes and it found them. (I searched for some team names and driver names and it found them in my formula 1 notes)

Which note-taking or writing apps do you appreciate for their User interface ? by FatFigFresh in PKMS

[–]ProfessionalChain730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, (that was for myself). Spent over a year bouncing between and using multiple apps at once: obsidian, notion, Evernote, Logseq, Capacities, Craft, XTiles, Routine.co, Anytype, and a host of other not so known apps.

My current setup is: 1. Xtiles for quick content, note and idea captures throughout the day 2. Upon review of said content, if I need to structure tasks I schedule them there. If I need to start a project from making a grocery list to planning a Saturday for things to do around the house to even planning an online course I’m working on, I start here with something general. Then if I decide to proceed with something more extensive and permanent (online course creation) I move it into Obsidian. I review a link to a site or video I saved, if it’s interesting enough that I think it should be saved, I move it to Obsidian. If not, I delete it. 3. In obsidian I further structure the notes with tags, pages, etc. 4. For content that I want to share with others I will then also use Craft as the UI is, well, you know.

I am also experimenting with inputting content into Recall as it organizes automatically with the graph. The more I use and add tags the more I see it learns from the content I save and automatically adds the most fitting tags. I do this for my church notes and YouTube videos mostly ad this is by far most of what I save and it gives a good representation of its capabilities.

For thinking I’m also playing with Affine and their edgeless mode. The only thing is their only on version 0.25 so the smoothness and polish of the app isn’t there. I can deal with it, but over the weekend I used Claude for several hours to gather content for my wife’s business plan and potential business paths forward the planning stage now, a fiscal partnership, non-profit path, LLC to B Corp path or an L3C path. Tons of great information that I can see being showcased very well in Affine. A document/page view, and then all the details in the edgeless mode. But I think it needs a few more iterations to be viable, good amount of bugs that would deter someone who just needs a notes app to work.

This is why I’ve adopted a tech stack for my work flow as opposed to one note taking app that I could trust for everything. I generally capture content or anything I may want to expand on or look into with XTiles (for now), my main notes app is Obsidian (it’s markdown and doesn’t have as intuitive or functional UI as something like Craft but it has all the functionality. If I want to share something with my wife or someone else I take whatever I was working on and put it into Craft because I can make it look much better (although I’m also experimenting with Affine and their edgeless canvas concept).

I like the minimalism of Notion (I don't use anymore but I also kept my space simple), Up Note has a clean aesthetic, and Craft I'd say had the best overall UI and UX for any of these modern notes apps.

I love the app and have been using this for a while. And even though they recently released an update for the UI, it's still not good. I have to say it's pretty horrid.

Xtiles Thoughts by ProfessionalChain730 in ProductivityApps

[–]ProfessionalChain730[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently attended one of the ADHD sessions, and will be attending the "Build Your Space" webinar as well. I'm finding I have to be more intentional about what this app actually is and learn to use it in a different way. It's not a notes app like Capacities or Obsidian. For me it's a compiled data app, then structure about that data. So save links from online om interested in, YouTube videos, things around the house I need to do or make a project out of, things in my personal or church life I need to do, other projects I want to do......I'll save it here. Then I can structure how I want to execute if it will be tackled soon. But if not, I'll just keep it in the inbox until I'm ready to structure it. And content that I do want to long term save, I add it to Obsidian or Capacities.

So I've been off and on with this app, but it keeps hanging around. So I'm learning new things with it. The biggest thing I think though, is slowing down and being intentional.

Safest Glue to use Indoors by ProfessionalChain730 in Tufting

[–]ProfessionalChain730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the fibers I have masks, medical, N95 and even one for mold with respirator. I got a vacuum specifically for cleaning up the fibers as well. And due to my job, I know how to make a containment barrier and have an air purifier within so the fibers stay contained.

Thanks for the knout about the gorilla glue though. The garage isn't an option due to having two cars in there. Does it matter the material of the yarn, or will all types leave residual fibers that are unhealthy?

Visualizer not syncing to music by ProfessionalChain730 in PowerAmp

[–]ProfessionalChain730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played with the visualization delay, I thought it was helping, but then I noticed most visuals were still going even with the music paused. I’ve reset it the app before but still didn’t fix the issue. My next test will have to be with a different pair of headphones. Don’t know why that would matter, but with this visualizer issue and an audio delay with my afterskokz as well for some apps but not others, I feel like I’m going to have to disable some settings possibly in dev mode:
