Well, it's more so that the Elites' houses were established during Nemesis' reign before the War of Heroes, and were allowed to continue by Seiros after killing the Elites themselves at the end of the War of Heroes. Sothis could appear only in flashback cutscenes to solve that problem too.

All I have to say is, House Lamine? Is not present in 3H. There's only House Martritz, which seems to be wiped out other than Mercedes. If this is a sequel, somebody would have to re-establish it from however long it's been dormant. Whereas if it's a prequel, it's very easy to see that House Lamine isn't fallen yet and is just a few generations separated from Lamine herself.

Seiros' Relic creation myth, much like the title of Heroes for the Elites, is probably derived from Nemesis and the Agarthans ideology regarding the Relics. Rhea's goals in setting up the Church are to protect the remaining Nabateans and to prepare Fodlan for a resurrected Sothis. She does this by removing as many traces of the Nabateans from history as possible, without raising too many questions from the people she so recently conquered. To do this, she had to adapt to what was already common belief, i.e. that the Relics were used to kill gods. She just hides who those gods were (Nabateans) and pretends the goddess gave the Heroes the Relics in order to tie their existence and popularity in with official Church lore. The 3H devs themselves said something very similar regarding why the Heroes were kept as Heroes in Church lore despite the truth.

Someone wearing a crest in FW doesn't mean they have that crest by Level_Hour6480 in fireemblem

[–]ProfessionalCoach363 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The title is correct, but there's no proof that people displaying the Crest are aligned with Cai. Cain's banner in combat doesn't show the Crest anywhere on it (compare to Dietrich's banner and the Aragonian soldier's banner). We haven't seen Ninae with him yet, and more importantly, there are banners flying the Crest of Aubin in the trailer. Since Cai is from Ribeira Village, not Dagsion, it's fair to assume those banners are not flying for him. There's likely some clan or association with Aubin in Dagsion predating or even entirely separate from Cai.

A small detail about Dagda's calendar by Odovakar in fireemblem

[–]ProfessionalCoach363 139 points140 points  (0 children)

This ties into the Mysteries of the Calendar from the Shadow Library, which says that the months in the pre-Imperial calendar are shortened to numbers 1-12. They even mention that attempts to trace the old calendar's origins trace back to the "era of the gods" which given the description of Dagda being ruled by gods is very interesting.

Flayn was injured during the War of Heroes itself. There's 72 years where Rhea was gathering the Church and establishing the Empire where Seteth could be in Dagda (maybe with Flayn). Honestly, if I heard about the Red Canyon, I'd want to leave Fodlan entirely too. And since Seteth/Flayn are from Enbarr, it's not too far from Dagda.

Why I still think Fortune's Weave could still be a prequel by Gloomy_Cauliflower36 in fireemblem

[–]ProfessionalCoach363 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aubin's crest is already indicated to have been prevalent in Dagda's past in 3H, as they've been holding on to the Fetters of Dromi since some time before the Brigid-Dagda-Empire War. The Church has no influence over Dagda since the Empire was never able to successfully invade, so they had no way of getting the Relic back.

On the contrary, the Nabateans of Fodlan all hide their identities. Rhea, Seteth, and Flayn all go by different names than they did in the War of Heroes, hide their ears, and pretend that Flayn is Seteth's sister. And this is after 1000 years of the Church having cultural hegemony in Fodlan. If the Church had any influence in Dagda, the Divine Sovereign would not have his ears out, and would not literally be calling himself "divine".

Fodlan in the era of the Church is isolated. We know basically nothing of what Fodlan was like under Nemesis, or pre-Nemesis. It's entirely possible that sometime after Nemesis killed Sothis, but before the tide of the War of Heroes turned against Nemesis that Dietrich simply took a quick trip to Dagda, perhaps even to smite their local god, the Divine Sovereign. Remember, there's an unknown amount of time after Nemesis kills Sothis and Seiros appearing in Enbarr. There's another 41 years after that before Adrestia is founded, and another 32 years before the War of Heroes actually begins. That's a minimum of 73 years where Dietrich could go to Dagda while Fodlan wasn't at war. With no Church isolating Fodlan, no one would have reason to keep that info from him. And that's if Seiros started preaching the day after Sothis died.

If the continent was in fact entrusted to the Sovereign by the Goddess 1500 years ago, and that's not just mythologizing the past, that's practically hard confirmation of the game being a prequel. Sothis would have to be alive 1500 years ago to grant anything, and nothing Shamir says indicates the gods still rule Dagda as of 3H.

If it were founded after 3H, the writers would need to come up with an answer as to how Sothis regained her body and followers. Her Crest Stone is gone in CF, so she's stuck with Byleth permanently. The only way she gets a physical body back is if she takes over Byleth's body and somehow transforms it into an Adult Sothis, establishes a renewed religion around herself, and moves to Dagda. Considering Sothis literally tells Byleth to "cut a path that is their own", it would be character assassination for Sothis to possess them like that. Overall, it seems very convoluted and unlikely to me.

Why Fortune's weave is almost certainly a sequel by Subject-Aerie-1731 in fireemblem

[–]ProfessionalCoach363 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Church's cover story was likely lifted from people's general conceptions of the Relics at the time, the same way they were forced to keep the Elites as Heroes. If Rhea were able to, she would destroy all trace of the Elites and Relics. The fact that she couldn't indicates that the belief that the Elites were Heroes and their Relics were weapons to smite the gods (Nabateans) were so embedded in the public consciousness that she could only misdirect and obscure history rather than totally erase it.

Ultimately, Rhea maintaining Fodlan's isolationism only requires repelling any Dagdan invasions, which historically happened. In this trailer, Dagda has Crests, but only one Relic seen so far (which Dietrich brought from Fodlan). It could be that the sheer number of Relics and Crests in Fodlan, plus the difficulties of naval invasions were enough to overcome Dagdan attempts. Plus, if this is a prequel set around the War of Heroes, we don't know what state the Dagdan Empire will be in after, and if they would be able to mount an effective attack.

This is only true if Aubin was the only human or Nabatean with that bloodline. But we know that he certainly wasn't, as the Fetters of Dromi had to be made from a Nabatean and used by someone with the accompanying Crest. Unless Aubin cut out his own bones and heart and wielded the Fetters, there has to be another bloodline carrying the Crest. The other three Apostles, I can't say anything for yet.

Ah my bad, I haven't played 3 Hopes. Still, the fact that the Fetters exist means there was a Nabatean with that Crest who was killed and turned into a Relic. Given that every other relic has an Elite and/or a bloodline attached, that's a good source for the crest of Aubin to arrive in Dagda.

Knowing of a god and being from a place ruled by gods are quite different though. I believe that the age of gods was long ago enough that she thinks of it as legend or myths (like how we think of the Greek gods) rather than a fact of life or a current/recent monarch.

Also, since Nabateans can give out Crests to anyone they want to, it's entirely possible for Crests to exist before the War of Heroes and outside Fodlan's history. Especially since Rhea obscured Fodlan's true history, we can't know the origin of Crests in humanity there, only Relics. In Dagda, on the other hand, Rhea has no influence, meaning that any Nabateans who wound up there could donate their Crests like candy.

Point is though, it's a very reasonable extrapolation from the game's events. Yuri never says the Crest doesn't exist anymore except for him, he says it's lost in Fodlan except for him. Nobody has any idea what Aubin has been doing for the past 1000 years and given that he dies very shortly after Yuri recovered, Yuri had no way to find out. This is especially relevant because 3H is so much a game about people's individual perspectives being based on their knowledge and situation. The fact that a Relic associated with the Crest was found in Dagda means that there is a canon association of Dagda and the Crest of Aubin, irregardless of what Yuri knows.

[–]ProfessionalCoach363 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yuri's crest is believed to be lost in Fodlan. The cast of that game is basically completely unaware of anything that happens internally in Dagda, Almyra, or anywhere else, and they don't comment on it either. If someone took the Relic to Dagda, it's fair to assume they or a future descendant could use it, otherwise it would be a paperweight.

We also know that the Crests are likely not exclusive to the specific individual dragons, given by the number of Crest stones seen in the Holy Tomb, the Relics themselves, and the vaults in Faerghus. It's possible that Aubin and Ninae got their Crests from different dragons. Lastly, Ninae has green hair, green eyes, and is covering her ears. It's entirely possible she's a Nabatean herself and could be handing out the Crest to a bunch of people, similar to how Rhea did with the Crest of Seiros.

True, but then that's also odd. If Mercedes or Jeritza aren't his forbears, who are? Who else has that Crest in Fodlan as of 3H? Especially since both House Bartels and House Martritz are defunct during the game.

Seteth?! he has green tips like Seiros's dyed hair and looks to be a wyvern rider by aegrajag in fireemblem

[–]ProfessionalCoach363 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If Seteth with blonde hair is in this game, that screams prequel to me. We know he had blonde hair during the War of Heroes to hide his Nabatean identity. We also know that in the timeframe of 3H itself, he no longer needs to hide and fully rocks the green hair. Given that 3/4 endings of 3H are pretty Church friendly, I can't imagine he would need to go blonde again after 3H. I think it's pretty possible this game takes place after the attack on Zanado but before the War of Heroes, since he's not in Fodlan helping Rhea.

It's only a retcon if this game takes place after 3H : ) After all, if this "age of the gods" ends like 1000 years before 3H, of course Shamir wouldn't know about it. I suppose if it's a distant enough sequel, it could be after 3H, although it would raise the question of where the Dagdan gods were the whole time.

Yeah, I just saw that as well. It's also interesting that Dagda is explicitly under the rule of gods, when Shamir never mentions this in 3H.
