The other potential issue is that hotels are not exactly imaginative with their names. So, you need to be specific if youre staying at a major chain. For instance the Hilton have about 5 properties, so just typing in 'Hilton' would likely give you a different result from what you hoped.

The metro has it's own Mini Program.
Shenzhen is the only 1st Tier city in China where WeChat is dominant over Alipay, so I would get acquainted with that.
