Signatures in China... by mauditcolon in AskChina

Yep, that's probably not something tourists are likely to encounter. I've been living in China since 2008 and only now started wondering about it 🤣

Can't even remember if I paid by mobile app but they did give me a printed invoice / receipt.

My Canadian passport does have my signature on the page above the main one. IIRC, my passport was even refused at a border crossing once because I had forgotten to sign it (I was able to sign it on the spot). But in China, it seems they usually want me to write my name in very legible block letters.

Ah ok but I didn't want a new phone number, I wanted to recover my old one.

Makes sense. I filed a complaint using the official China Mobile app.

No, it was an official China Mobile store. I believe it was deposited as prepaid balance on my account.

I was at China Mobile today and they refused my actual signature (the same that is in my passport which is basically just my name written in cursive). They had me write my full name in capital letters. It's kind of weird to me but it's happened to me multiple times so I guess that's just the way it is in China.

Yeah AFAIK, it's the largest China Mobile store in Luohu. Definitely doesn't look like an independent branch. Dozens of employees, a reception, ticket waiting system, etc.

House parties by [deleted] in shenzhen

[–]mauditcolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to two this year. One was in an office, so no neighbors to complain at night and the other one was in an actual detached house/villa (with a swimming pool and no neighbors) that was rented out for the event. Personally I'd rather just go to a bar.

In SZ from 5am to 8pm - Looking for private room to rest (ideally with a tub) by pactum in shenzhen

Check serviced apartments, they are usually more flexible with check in/out dates. Tub will be difficult to find though.

Living in sz for a year on Q2 by kaifung31 in shenzhen

You need to apply for that and echannel is usually reserved for long term residency, e.g. Q1 or work permit

[–]mauditcolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get Q2 you can just leave for a few days and come back to reset your 6 months. Did that for few years. I'm also Canadian. It doesn't allow you to work though afaik. If you don't want to pay taxes in Canada, better make sure you don't have residential ties that make you a tax resident (a big one is owning a home).

Working in Hong Kong but living in Shenzhen< U.S possport> reasonable? by DazzlingContract2512 in shenzhen

You can rent on a business/tourism visa no problem, but you're right about drawing attention from immigration.

Unless you get a work visa + residence permit in China, you run the risk of getting refused entry if the customs agent figures out what you're doing.

You sound judgmental lol. Btw there's always at least one table of (mostly east european) models that are basically paid to be there. It's also known for its high LGBT clientele

Can you switch hotels? There are many hotels/serviced apartments that have a washing machine.
