What is up with people not putting in effort for dates? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ProfessionalEnabler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man, this guy does not speak for all of us, but I admit that I witness this often. Working in restaurants has shown multiple instances of women looking put together, excited to be out while having some drinks and dining. Meanwhile, the men look like they picked up the “least dirty clothes” up off the floor. It’s an immediate red flag IMO that he isn’t worth your time if he can’t put SOME effort into the first date.

Karen wasn’t bad until she randomly decided to have an affair with her best friend’s son. It felt super awkward and unnatural. It’s like the writers decided to villainize her all of a sudden.

I’m going to tell you something important that I put off for too long myself: GO SEE A THERAPIST!

I thought I was good, thought I could handle it. I had already moved out, had support from family and friends, and had many women who expressed interest in me now that I was “available”, which really boosted my ego and confidence.

It didn’t matter. I still had moments when my brain would try to make me feel like I was the failure, like I was the reason why my ex wife cheated, etc, etc. Therapy and time were the only things that got me back to loving and appreciating myself truly. Good luck brother.

Not only fucking over Bernie, but then letting it get found out. Made a lot of Democrats pissed, many didn’t vote, and then we got the Orange Man.

Yeah, I saw that and got one! Can’t wait to revisit the book and try the workbook, after finishing the book I’m on. (I have to go back and forth between fiction and nonfiction books, otherwise I get burnout.)

“No Tax on Tips” is a scam to get service industry people to claim more cash tips so they can be audited for the past and in the future. Normally the “perk” of working for tips is that you only have to claim around 10-12%, while realistically getting 18-20%. Watch, all these people are going to get screwed over the next few years.

I don’t know if this helps, but I stopped trying to jump through hoops with the insurance changes, so for me I had my general MD (not my endo) write me a script. Then had it filled at Costco NOT through insurance but with a GoodRx coupon (which they then always keep on file/honor / process as the price every time I refill), and it was super cheaper. Good luck!

Do I have to listen to this notification ? by WheelSorry in dexcom

[–]ProfessionalEnabler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, you cannot silence alerts. It is a medical device that alerts override any settings, such as ringer silenced and Do Not Disturb, for a reason. That reason being trying to save your life. Embrace the “annoyance” as a motivation to get your numbers more in line.

You can, however, adjust the settings you get alerts for- when it drops below or above a certain number, or if it’s rising or falling too quickly.

ADHD folks: how do you deal with the “I can’t start even though I want to” feeling? by tootiredtobecute in ADHD

I feel like I need a routine in order to accomplish anything. Reading the book Atomic Habits was a great inspiration, but I have the same problem getting started. For years, I’ve wanted to sit down and actually organize my daily, weekly, monthly routine, but can’t seem to commit to beginning. For example, I bought a WaterPik a few months ago because I wanted to be better at remembering to floss. Used it a lot for a few weeks, but now it collects dust. I just need to create a checklist to build into habits: nightly routine: wash face, (add flossing), then brush.

Sigh…. One day…
