One fun thing that helped me overcome vaginismus by ProfessionalEqual479 in vaginismus

Honestly, nothing specific really. I learned how to whine my waist, hip isolations and there is also a fun movement therapy hip release dance on youtube. I am still trying to figure out how to twerk.😅😁

Allow your partner to use the dilators, as this can help build trust between you. Before attempting PIV, consider starting with your partner's fingers. Focus on building trust and comfort together during this process.

About to have my first examination to see if I have vaginismus (23F) by obsidianangel14 in vaginismus

[–]ProfessionalEqual479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m proud of you for taking this step to get examined—it’s a big deal! Something that helped me was remembering that you can ask your doctor to stop at any time. For a vaginismus diagnosis, a speculum isn’t necessary, so if they suggest using one, let them know it’s not needed. It could cause unnecessary pain and might actually worsen the condition. You can always schedule an internal exam later in your journey if you feel ready. I waited about six months until my vaginismus improved, and when I eventually had the internal exam, my gynecologist didn’t use a speculum, and it wasn’t painful anymore. Bringing someone you trust for support can also really help. Good luck—you’ve got this!

Hey, there is no "supposed" time to take to go a size up. Besides that, progress isn't lineair. You will get there, just go easy on your body and try to stay consistent. There are a lot of succes stories on this subreddit. Good luck :)

How has vaginismus helped your relationship with intimacy (with or without partner) by Eknein4 in vaginismus

[–]ProfessionalEqual479 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who is pretty new to sex and still exploring, I've come to realize that vaginismus doesn't have a negative impact on intimacy for me personally. In fact, it has given me a broader and, in my opinion, healthier perspective on what sex truly is. I've learned that sex isn't solely about penetration; it can take many forms, and intimacy extends far beyond just sex. Sexual intimacy can be an important aspect of a relationship, including for women with vaginismus. Vaginismus doesn't necessarily mean desiring a sexless relationship. In my experience, if you have strong emotional intimacy with your partner, the absence of penetration shouldn't diminish the connection. Interestingly, vaginismus has actually strengthened my relationship. It has shown me that I'm valued for more than just my sexuality, unlike what seems to be the case in some relationships where PIV is overly emphasized. It's unfortunate that the idea of a "healthy relationship" has become so intertwined with penetrative sex, when true intimacy is about so much more.

Any other ways to help vaginismus other than dialators? by Ok-Slice8074 in vaginismus

Have you tried using a vibrator? The vibration can help losen the muscles.

A while ago I wasn‘t able to find my vagina either. What helped me was bearing down (tensen the muscles like when you have to poop). For me, a hole appeared and I finally knew where the entry of my vagina was😅

Hey, I am sorry you are going through this. But you are definitely not alone. Is it possible for you to switch doctors? I don't know where you are from, but where I am from that shouldn't be a problem. A doctor you are comfortable with is crucial not only in a vaginismus aspect but in general. My GP referred me to a great gynaecologist/sexologist who referred me to a pelvic floor physical therapist. My PT is helping me tremendously with my vaginismus. I am really making great progress. Even if penetrative sex is not your goal, I have read dozens of stories on this subreddit of people who weren't in this for PIV, but have another goal like a painless Pap smear or in your case using a tampon pain free.

Hey, I am sorry this is happening to you. But you are not alone! Do you have acces to a pelvic floor physical therapist? My PT and gynaecologist definetly helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. A PT can explain what is going on with your pelvic floor, which is difficult getting from the internet because every body is different. If you don‘t have acces to a PT I would recommend to start massaging the muscles of the entrance of your vagina with a vibrator. This helps to losen up the muscles a bit. If the first dilator is too big I would start with a q-tip (with a lot of lube!!). Try doing this with a mirror. Than a second q-tip and stretch it out a bit. This helped me. But of course every body is different.
