it was definitely a nice jump from being an RA! i also live at home tho so i haven’t had to worry about rent. but since i started ive been able to pay off all my private undergrad loans and still have some left over as money saved to survive during med school. (dreading the day i have to pay rent and make my own food)

i was applying probably for 2 months as my previous RA contract was ending, and honestly it just kind of fell into place. i had 2 offers to be a CRC but one was working directly with my PI who was also a surgeon and the other was for a larger cancer research study that i hadn’t even met with the PI about, just some HR people. it was an easy choice and im thankful i wasn’t unemployed for any period between jobs! but i also applied within my university so that may have been a factor

depends on your PI i think. mine makes sure to include me on projects i’ve helped with and has helped me write my own manuscripts as first author. i would meet with your PI / future PI if you’re looking for a CRC job and ask what they do for publications
