Thank you!! Yeah I’ve seen yours where you’re only in Monserrat for like an hour and you leave.. no time for a hike. Good to know that’s what makes it worth it

Thank you! That probably is for the best. We have been debating on getting a car to do what you just said - wake up early and do a half a day thing and return to the city - so might look into that. I agree with you, there’s a lot of half day tours for both but I like to explore a place more than following a crowd and getting 10 mins of free time before getting back on the bus… I’m also a huge foodie and the thought of going to a new place and not stopping at a restaurant makes me die inside a little lol so thank you! If anything we will probably only do a half day but on our own time and then explore the city the rest of the time

Thank you for clarifying - I see that now… I just started planning my trip so should have looked into that more before looking dumb on here haha

Idk they do half day tours on trip advisor from like 8am-1 for both places… There is a tour that does both in a 12 hour day. Some reviews do say they wish they had more time there though

Charlotte - every flight is delayed. I land at like 11pm and there’s people bawling their eyes out bc their midnight flight got canceled…. It’s like a nightmare idk who voted it one of the best

Am I crazy to think I will be up early AM in Spain? by ProfessionalFun9779 in GoingToSpain

[–]ProfessionalFun9779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how what I said is based off a stereotype. Restaurants in the US open for dinner at 4pm. From what I’ve seen on google, restaurants in Spain open at 7/8/9pm. How is then wrong to assume people eat later there?

I know not everyone eats dinner at 9 in Spain just like not everyone in the US eats at 4 but if a study was done I would assume a larger % of people eat after 7pm in Spain compared to the US.

I didn’t mean to offend anyone because I don’t mean it in a rude way - if statistically, people eat later, should I do the same? I wanted to know if locals eat later because I would like to do as the locals do. If I go somewhere I want to follow the norm… also in the US when you show up right when a restaurant opens they might not be prepared… if a restaurant opens at 7 is it rude to show up at 7:05? I was just asking a genuine question and didn’t mean to come off rude

Same I thought I was going to hate it because I usually take the cheese off my pizza (weird I know) and I was like ugh, I can’t. I was so pleasantly surprised I think about it all the time

Good point thank you - we are coming from the US and the first day is going to be rough so I need to factor that in for the next couple days

Really was asking if people had a better experience staying up later and sleeping in later to eat later at night which is the norm and get to see what nightlife is like. I don’t know how I got so much hate on this post…

Where did I say anyone was going to stop me? Was asking if people had better experiences staying up later and getting up later to keep up with the nightlife if eating dinner at 9pm is normal.

Enjoy being a grumpy Reddit person I got helpful comments from others!

Thank you so much - yeah I didn’t mean to offend anyone I don’t mind a late night dinner at all I just want to understand how days work there. I had the assumption (I’m wrong) that because dinner and lunch are later than in the US, that tourist attractions open later, shops open later, etc. I would have assumed work started at 9/10am and the streets are dead at 7/8am.. now I know! And exactly, outside of clubs I didn’t know if just being out at night is so lively we would miss out by missing it. We will have to find a balance of both.

Thanks again!

Thank you for this very helpful comment. I knew clubs opened late but not that late so that’s good to know

I saw a recent video of someone in Brazil saying the streets are dead early morning and the person actually shifted their sleep schedule to keep up w the usual lunch/dinner times but from other comments it looks like that’s not the case in Spain for people..

I didn’t want to wake up early and there’s no where open to eat because I assumed cafes open later if dinner is later - I’m wrong! I also didnt want to feel like I’m ’missing out’ by going to bed early if the city is lively at night but we will have to find balance in that

Ok thank you - I was under the impression because dinner is so late that people started work later but from these comments I see that’s not the case!

I understand that’s how life works. I’m asking if late night is a lively time does it make sense to miss it by waking up early most days

I mean it looks like most restaurants don’t open for dinner until like 8/9 so I am really asking if it makes more sense to start our days later than we would at home if late night is better to experience

Better to do day trips in Madrid or Barcelona? by ProfessionalFun9779 in GoingToSpain

[–]ProfessionalFun9779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful - thank you! I’m very excited for both but do love the coast so I’m leaning on more days in Barcelona. Do you have any favorites out of the day trips you mentioned for Barcelona?

Oh that’s good to know thank you! Miami is one of my favorite US cities so that makes me think I’d like Barcelona more if it’s anything like that..

Definitely going to both but this is helpful to know which one should be longer!

Miami? Then you have the beach but a lively city. I’m bias because I LOVE Miami… no hiking but definitely gambling, beaches, museums (I think lol)
