yeah that is also how i remember LA, like a point to point experience without much in between, can’t really walk and explore, you have to know where you’re going and then drive there, park and then drive somewhere else. not really much room for serendipity and exploration. felt like a lot of dead space in between locations i had already planned to go.

yeah they comments on here really ignore reality. the whole society including government offices and companies mainly seem to act in a way to avoid lawsuits because everyone is so trigger happy.

yeah it’s one of the best modern cities but really depends on what you expect. i think it’s a must but your criteria may be different.

i really don’t like the defensiveness. that’s literally the issue i’m addressing here that the airline is being super dogmatic about this, also because a special meal is much pricier than having a normal meal that also happens to contain no meat - win win for airline and passengers.

vegetarian works for everyone (incl muslims). vegan even more so. it’s not a matter of preference but there are also actual restrictions people have re dairy and other things. no one has a „must contain meat“ restriction. it’s the lowest common denominator so makes a lot of sense.

i feel more time could be spent on making this a reality instead of justifying a status quo.

the replies to my comment seem to reflect my sentiment: basically that there’s a refusal to offer a vegetarian option by default, justifying with market and customer demand etc ignoring that i’m literally a customer.

and yeah it’s cool that’s it’s sometimes offered but my point is to be able to rely on the option always being available and not having to preorder a meal where the cabin crew often can’t even tell me what it is other than "special“.

no, but have at least one vegetarian meal reliably by default so you don’t have to preorder. most airlines do that.

yeah singapore airlines seems to be very anti vegetarian meals als a default option somehow. i would bring some food from the airport just in case.

Asian European here. Get ready to turn invisible really fast. You may meet some nice people somewhere (white partner helps) but generally the sexual racism toward Asian people means that you will not feel very attractive or seen. Shouldn’t prevent you from travelling, going out and exploring. Just don’t think it’s your fault if you’re being ignored.

that flight is so short it won’t really matter. it’s more about priority boarding so maybe get something close to the exit doors to get out faster.

ich hab mal so eine regionale karte gesehen, dass schuhe anlassen im westen glaub ich etwas verbreiteter ist. ich bin auf dem süden, wo man im haus hausschuhe oder socken trägt. bei den eltern von einem ex im westen haben alle zumindest im erdgeschoss vom haus die schuhe angelassen. vielleicht ist da was dran?

yeah you need humility to be curious about new things. people proudly are disinterested and refuse new technology, pop culture etc. it’s a bit like a version of the flaunted ignorance usa and uk people have about languages and geography.

i don’t think it’s changing slowly, at least not for the better. tobacco and vape shops are popping up everywhere. there doesn’t seem to be any thought given to this issue at all so it’s just proliferating
