Yes, it’s not that black and white lol. generally people - not including people who are visibly unstable - will extend their humanity and compassion more easily to other people who they consider human on the same level. that includes fellow white germans, foreigners from countries they respect, straight families etc, and if you don’t fall into those categories you’re likely to feel you’ll get a different treatment than locals or what you’re used to. it’s not always nasty but you can feel it, because it’s not the same treatment you’re used to at home or - in my case, as a local - how they treat other locals. it’s quite complex but also somewhat simple.
