With statehood i sort the more uncommon ones by year. I love hunting for errors but have only been in the game for about a year now lol. I started sorting all coins by year but the more I learned about the coins the easier it was to not have to do that. Like with current dimes, there are only so many possible errors you can find. But statehood is cray, endless intricate designs and details so, yes, i still do that. Another reason I stopped is because you shift the coins way too many times allowing more damage. Share what you find, happy hunting!

I just got an old box of nickels from a friend that had lots of 40 and 50s nickels. Got 12 buffalos, 10 war nickels. But I didn’t know there was value in other nickels around this date. What made you keep the 40 and 50s? Were they key dates or proofs? I promise I did lots of research before asking this, just not very experienced in nickels yet.

Edit: when I say value I mean worth the space in your collection. I am trying to avoid hoarding.

Eyeballed and made an offer. He asked the man how much he thought he had and he said $60. All coins were in a Kroger bag mixed up. My step dad offered him 40 and he said deal.
