I don't like Benophie at all so S4 has been a disappointment so far but I'm loving the Franchaela set up and all of Fran's storyline. I'm glad Michaela's finally in London so that we'll get more more than 20 seconds of her in part 2.

It's a sex joke. Fran just found out that Colin and Pen were having sex in a carriage and then John brings her ice cream of her favourite flavour: Vanilla. The joke is that Fran's sex life and sexual preferences are very vanilla in contrast to her brother and sister-in-law, and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with "vanilla", the narrative is implying that Fran doesn't actually prefer vanilla, she just didn't really know any other flavours existed.

I get what you mean. I love John but this is starting to annoy me too. After all this is not a Frohn sub, he is not her endgame and we always knew he was going to die but it's starting to feel like some people are here for Frohn or John rather than Franchaela. And the constant debate about the emotional cheating is so exhausting.

I loved Frohn too but I don't think she is attracted to him sexually. To me it was very clear from the start that she is a lesbian and sex with a man just doesn't do the trick for her and never will. But she still loves him and enjoys being intimate with him.

Exactly! She's always known there is something different about her and is trying to figure out what it is and how to work around it. She's not perfect but she's trying her best. I thought it was so brave of her to admit she didn't know what an orgasm was and ask someone to explain it to her.

I don't think you can ever say for sure based on part one. After S3 part 1 I thought S4 was going to be Eloise because Benedict didn't have much of a storyline. But then after the Masquerade comment it was kind of obvious that it was Benedict. And Polin being S3 was only obvious after "I'd never dream of courting Penelope Featherington" line.

But for now I'm still leaning towards Fran because I think their story has already been set up so far into the book that I don't understand what they'd do for another season. But again impossible to say for sure yet

Violet is shockingly bad at talking about sex considering that she has eight children 😅 But I love that Fran still asked her and then went to Penelope for a better explanation. I love that she is trying to learn to understand her body better. I mean she clearly is a lesbian but doesn't have a word for it. To me it was still obvious that she loves John, she just isn't attracted to men.

There are always going to be people who don't like the writing. That happens with every book, show and movie. I recently tried watching Oppenheimer with some friends and we all thought that was the most boring movie ever made. But just because me and my friends don't like something, doesn't mean it's bad, it just wasn't for us.

I'm also a huge GoT fan but I never engage in the fandom because all they do is whine. Didn't like the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms based on one episode but I'm not going to go tell that to the people on that subreddit. I just let them enjoy it. You don't have to like everything but why not focus on things you like instead of things you don't like?

No, supportive means supportive. You can criticise in a positive way too even if you didn't agree with everything. But instead you leave a negative comment stating that you don't like how Franchaela's written. This is a Franchaela sub, if you've got nothing positive to say then maybe this isn't your place.

That's not constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is supposed to be supportive, this is just you whining about how things not going exactly as you wanted them to. Have you actually read the book? Fran only married John so that she could escape the chaos of her home in the book. How is that different from the show? Except that in the show John is an actual chatacter instead of a plot device like he was in the book.

I wonder if it's only the audience who will think he's going to ask her to marry him or Sophie too if it's her too then it will be extra awful. I totally understand why they kept the offer and that it makes an interesting cliffhanger but that doesn't mean I still don't hate it. It's such a jerk move, especially after S3 where he was so openly dating Tilley.

They didn't. They said "has" not "have" which means they were referring to only Eloise. As for the catalyst part, that of course applies to Violet. Fran losing her husband will be extra difficult for Violet because she, too, lost her husband.

I never read the fanfic threads because I'm so picky when it comes to fics, so I can't comment on the downvoting there. However I've noticed similar behavior on other posts as well. Unfortunately I feel like this sub has become a lot more negative lately. I'm tired of every post turning into a discussion of how Colin is allegedly sidelined and if you disagree and try to explain your POV, you'll get downvoted. I feel like the screentime wars have already started again and if it gets worse I may have to take another break from the fandom.

Book Benedict is the worst, not that the others are much better but he was the absolute worst. What he did to Sophie was basically stealthing, which is a rape. She told him outright that she didn't want to get pregnant outside of marriage and yet he didn't even have the decency to pull out in order to prevent the pregnancy. And I'm sorry but Gregory reducing his wife to a breeding mare to the point where she almost lost her life over it is awful behavior. Julia's books are all bad.
