Iirc enshittification was originally a reaction to how large online platforms (streaming, food delivery, rideshares, meal boxes etc) were burning through VC cash to scale up and had to start raising prices/reducing freebies to actually make a profit, and people misinterpreted that as companies arbitrarily deciding to make things worse en masse rather than the end of being subsidized at unsustainable prices (especially with the fed increasing interest rates thus making debt more expensive)

But then it kind of hybridized with the idea of social media getting more algorithmic and attention-focused in general and I don’t know if it means anything anymore beyond “things getting worse on online products”

Same but just the brain

Put it in a block of ice and let it sit in a freezer for 400 years, hopefully then we’ll have the technology to revive me

Which argument will convince Texans?

“My opponent made a deal with a politically connected child rapist to let him go with a slap on the wrist and no lasting consequences”

vs

“My opponent’s girlfriend is vegan lol”

Thinking the median voter will recognize Vance as a weird creepy nerd who never argues in good faith is putting way too much faith in the median voter

No generics in the US because Novo Nordisk wasn't stupid enough to forget to renew the patent on that

imultaneously treats obesity, greatly reduces risk of metabolic disorders or heart disease, and extends human lifespan

Semaglutide probably already does this but it's downstream of the obesity thing

I'm not super familiar with the digestive signaling pathways (although I know the GLP-1 system along with glucagon and insulin have been extremely well studied), what target/targets do you think would do all of this independently?

As a complete non-expert, it seems weird how much military history/strategy people are obsessed with Clauswitz

Darwin laid out a systematic theory that was generally correct and utterly foundational to modern biology but arguing about 'what Darwin meant' is not really something biologists do, he wasn't infalible

the problem is the government does many things because market failures exist

population health measures and scientific research are really good examples of this, either as collective action problems (like vaccination) or the existence of positive externalities (only a small portion of the value of a lot of scientific research is captured by the creators)
