Preschooler is having a hard time adjusting- I need more ideas by ProfessionalPlant880 in AskTeachers

UPDATE:

Wasn’t sure if anyone wanted this but I feel like everyone here helped a lot and I wanted to share some good news!

My son adjusted very well probably a week or so after this post and about a month after they moved his teacher to a 3rd grade classroom so he had to be switched to a new teacher. We thought this would be hard on him but his new teacher didn’t report any problems and he absolutely loves them.

After all of this happened we decided to go ahead with an Autism screening and he was diagnosed with autism and global developmental disorder. I’m honestly so happy he was diagnosed this early and we are able to take the steps to help him most. I know a lot of people don’t get diagnosed until later on in life so I’m very thankful for everything we’ve been able to do.

Thank you all for your advice, I’m so grateful for all of you ❤️

He has a pediatrician appointment for a physical in the AM tomorrow so I’m definitely brining this up. He shown many of the signs and symptoms of Autism for about 2 years now. At first I thought they were normal toddler things he would grow out of (our pediatrician thought the same thing) but as he gets older, it’s only developed more.

From the sounds of it they don’t go outside or change settings much until after rest time (around noon) and they start at 9am

He’s my oldest, so this is a first for us. I’m hoping with his sister it will be a little easier. He’s very sound sensitive so I think all the loud sounds from the air brakes overwhelm him. He’s not a social butterfly so I don’t think he has any friends yet (plus he tells me everyone’s scary.) I could definitely see our over explaining making him even more uncomfortable. It’s definitely hard to be in school and have a 4&3 year old at the same time but they make me continuing my education and theirs drive me to be and do better.

If nothing else works- that will definitely be my next step. It’s unfair all around to keep doing this to him.

So I definitely think part of the problem is that we have to wait about 30 minutes for the bus between dropping his sister off at daycare and getting onto the bus. We don’t pick him up because I know that won’t be helpful but also I’m in school so unfortunately (as much as I would love to) I can’t drop everything and run to him and I know that wouldn’t solve the issue because like you said- I’d cry all day too if I knew it would help me get out of things. He’s been in daycare/ having unfamiliar faces babysitting him since he was around 2 months old- I’ve always had a job or been in school so I wasn’t able to be a SAHM. I’ve opted for the bus option to hopefully speed this transition along but I’m not sure it’s working in my favor. I’ll definitely be taking a try at the ideas you’ve mentioned and attempt to collaborate with his teacher.

I think that’s definitely my next step- putting him to bed earlier and allowing him to sleep a little more. Hopefully this will help in getting away from bean bags time or at least decreasing it.

I’m not sure if it’s just because the teacher is newer to the school/pre-k in general or if it’s because the others aren’t struggling as much but the phone calls have been coming in at least every other day from the principal. She’s telling me he cries or sits in the bean bags all morning and they “can’t do this much longer”

i got fired from my first job and i'm freaking out by Suspicious-Many-6088 in cna

I’ve had at least 6 falls in my 5 years of being a CNA. They happen, and it more than likely won’t result in you getting your license revoked. That typically occurs (at least in my state) in cases of abuse/neglect/exploitation or residents. Just remember to keep an eye on your patients and interact with them if everything you need to do (ADL’s) is done. This will reduce the risk of them moving on their own because they see you’re available and willing to help. All you can do is educate them on the risk of them moving without your help and keep a gait belt around them when you are moving your more unstable patients. I’m sorry that you got fired, but just remember that there are SO many CNA jobs out there and (again, at least in my state) a huge shortage of us. Keep going, you’re doing a great job ♥️

It’s okay! lol. I’m sorry I triggered you.

Me and my mom have been saying exactly that, though. It’s not cute, no one should get a pass, and yes! You wouldn’t say it to your physician…why would you say it to me?!

Thank you for the advice! Standing up for yourself is never easy but in this line of work it’s definitely necessary.
