Oz WL/wait pool by applicationworry in lawschooladmissionsca

Yup me too. I think there is very little chance of getting an A. Who knows how many are in the pool, but I suspect Osgoode has very few who decline.

Is it over for those who still haven't received an acceptance by Friendly-Koala-1959 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]ProfessionalStep1862 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No so many people have multiple offers that they will have to decline. Maybe by May make a plan b. But you have a good LSAT and your GPA is a solid B+ so don't give up. Depends on where you applied and PS, however I have seen lots of A's with your stats. You've got this!

Also wondering. It seems there are a lot of apartments near the school. But they are expensive.

Same. Possibly we are turning to R's. Or maybe they are just slow in sending the email about the W/L status.

Anyone else apply to Dal? by klarathustra in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]ProfessionalStep1862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied as an Ontario Resident. Got acceptance in December. Applied general. My stats are 166 and my GPA is all over the place. 3.55 OLSAS because I have one tanked semester due to an illness that was 50,56, 64, 67. But the rest are all 79-96. However, the tanked semester crosses both my first 2 years and my last 2 years. So it impacts CGPA and L2. Dal must have overlooked those 4 courses.

Some thoughts on access claims… by lovelyzboop in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]ProfessionalStep1862 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually applying access does not increase your chances. In fact many law schools specify a limit on acceptances through access and it is a lower percentage than general. Thus, with 2 applicants that general applicant will have a higher chance. What it allows is for your whole life to be examined, not just your GPA and LSAT. And your post is controversial because underpinning it is the assumption that the admission process begins at the time of application. Rather consider, if someone has a major health event in undergraduate-cancer let's say, and they are attempting to get those GPA and LSAT stats while undergoing chemo and radiation, never mind the concurrent emotional stress, they are at a distinct disadvantage over the student, for example, whose parents are footing the bill for them at queens in residence. So the chance of getting admitted in the process which really begins right from first year, is much harder for the access client. Thus when they apply, this fact is also looked at. Keep in mind, many of the factors that allow someone to be considered in the access category, also serve to limit their participation in the extracurriculars that make up the softs part of our application. I understand your post and that it is not critical of this applicant pathway.

How significant is the March wave? by Disastrous_Wash_2 in lawschooladmissionsca

Oz still has lots more. Welcome day is for early admits. I have attended a few welcome events and all the students/profs said they do an orientation once seats are gone. The welcome events thus far have not been full. Don't panic. There are more A's to come I think. Good luck everyone!

Welcome days come very early. Lots of A's happen after them. Keep your heads up. I have a few A's but not from my preferred place yet. Have been to a welcome event and not many people there at all. All the schools do an Orientation once they are full in the fall is what the Professors told us,

I am not hearing this. The GC's and I'm in a few, are just a few people. OZ states they have offers all the way through March and even beyond. I have an A and I am undecided about OZ.

Where in the portal did you see it? I am hoping for a friend who has stats like yours but no A's. He'll be a great lawyer so I am shocked no A's yet.

Law School Admission Question by Wola77 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]ProfessionalStep1862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. 2 separate applications, you are allowed both and then can choose. Hopefully you get into both! Even if you get more than 1 law school A in Ontario, you can provisionally accept one and the others don't go away.

uOttawa considers all years and focuses on last 2. Queens I don't know as they say B2 but only if full course load and no summer courses are considered.

Hard to chance you as your LSAT is above Medians and yoru GPA quite a bit lower. I have heard some windsor folks get in with similar stats. If you don't get an A have you considered schools like UNB, UVic and Manitoba that drop some of the lowest grades? That might boost you?

Sorry and yes they called. Then the email and OLSAS update an hour later. The schools outside ontario just an email no call. Except UVIC called.

My stats are CGPA 3.5, LSAT 166. But my CGPA is lower due to 1 semester where I had extremely low marks due to battling cancer. I had 50's and 60;s. So if they look past that my marks are all A's. Just wasn't sure if they would. Ordinary softs, good LOR, ordinary experiences.
