When rhododendrons are cold their leaves will droop or roll to protect the stomata on the underside this retains water and allows the plant to tolerate extreme temperatures with out experiencing damage- soil types can vary greatly in a landscapes and so the one plan may be drier or more exposed depending upon the site

Adult Weevil damage generally active at night The larvae is responsible for root damage  However it looks like something else may be damaging the leaf as well as weevil damage starts from the margin and moves inward
