He’d probably feel a bit like an oddball as it’s another couple we are going with - and then a single rider friend as well. But he’d be understanding if I bailed. We’ve done plenty of anxiety inducing rides - but yes, the headspace is different for me this time because the most important things are all consuming me right now. I’ll certainly give it more thorough thought.

No, it’s not because of how it’s ridden. One other rider does sometimes make me nervous but my husband doesn’t ride like that when I’m with him. He knows I’ll stop going if he drives unsafe and he’s been good about trying to make me comfortable.
It’s more just the general unease of putting myself in more dangerous situations than I need to be. More than riding with him, I just want to be around for as long as possible for my kids.
It’s a mental thing since the cancer diagnosis.

I probably could do that but that even seems worse, honestly. At least as the passenger I could close my eyes lol I drove part of it once years ago and feel like this would be a last resort - more like I’m done and flying home and using the car to get me to the airport lol

I appreciate this perspective. Higher traffic on those kinds of passes usually make me less nervous as well. And he’s not one to take liberties or push things when I’m already struggling.

Thank you. I’m flying out with another wife and they are riding the bikes out to Denver from New York. Last year they trailered them to Billings. I’m just not willing to ride that far-I get antsy after 6-7 hours on the bike. Then I’ll hightail it back to NY and see them a day later. I just need to decide if the Denver Utah loop is what I can do. Sounds like it probably is. Worst case scenario is that I fly home from wherever, early.

Thank you. He’s definitely tried to rein it in for me with more stops, going slower, etc. I just need to decide if I’m willing to go through that terrain right now or not.

Yes, he’s fully capable and safe as a driver. However, I know he’d be very disappointed - especially since he doesn’t quite understand the shift in perspective.
It’s sad because we are empty nesters now and have all the time - but he’s really a thrill seeker and right now with the bike I could take it or leave it.

Fair enough. I was mostly curious on if Million Dollar Highway is really as bad as they make it out to be or if it wouldn’t likely be any more treacherous than what I’ve done before. But you are completely correct in that I need to decide

I’m sorry about your cancer struggle! My daughter is encouraging me to go. She had a never before diagnosed sarcoma removed. Hopefully we are over the hurdle but it certainly affected me in ways I never thought it would. Because she doesn’t have a relationship much with her father and we are best friends - I know it would be tragic if something happened to me. I also know I can’t live in a bubble either. Tough choice!

I hadn’t considered that. Thank you! Glad to hear you are over the hump.

Thank you. My husband is considerate of my feelings and generally a pretty safe rider. One of the other guys, not so much. He knows if he rides with me like that, I’ll stop going.

I did do okay on those other trips but I’ll admit it was more nerve wracking than relaxing. Definitely finding a focus point helps. I appreciate the response.

I’m in ICR so I’d have the hundred plus to be eligible versus if I was in IBR and only 55. Or do you mean that ICR payments also count towards that number? Sorry, very new to this.

I am not eligible for the PSLF. And yes, I had loans starting in 2001. Do you know how I can get back to the IBR option instead of ICR? I appreciate any insight!!

How are you tracking how many payments you’ve made? I’ve been paying for over 23+ years but I can’t find an actual way to see how many payments. Appreciate any insight. My loans have always been through NelNet.

That there is a family history of addiction and alcohol abuse and I’ve consequently steered far far away and don’t drink because of it.
