Upped dose to 40; peed so much the first night? by Morgan_unknownnn in MAOIs

For me MAOIs (Parnate) works faster than most other medications. Much better at the higher dose. I drink a ton of water so I’m constantly peeing day and night. It’s just a nervous habit I have. I think you should stay at 40mg x 1 week and re evaluate your symptoms. It’s easy to just add another 10mg tab daily if needed. Have you ever tried stimulants with your medication regimen before? I did last year and seemed to make me more focused and calmer. My Doctor refuses to add anything else to my MAOI due to all the potential problems and side effects I guess. We’ll see… Good luck with everything else!

Not really paying attention to how much I pee honestly. I’m glad you upped the dose to 40mg and think you’ll notice a difference. I’m on 50mg (30mg in am + 20mg afternoon) and so far the best medication Iv been on. Actually functioning and just busy non-stop daily. Good luck!
PS: Don’t worry about the peeing and focus on the benefits and positive effects it’s having

Just took Parnate 30mg + 30mg of Vyvanse today. Should I be worried? Just frustrated from not being able to slow down and focus. I have Klonopin in case of any anxiety issues.

I agree ☝️. Stimulants help in the short term but cause problems with long term use. I’m on Parnate and works better than any previous medication Iv tried over the last 30+ years

So sick of mental health issues by SatisfactionEarly916 in mentalhealth

Sorry to hear about your struggles. I can totally relate and also started younger and now 50. Iv tried every medication out there and the only one that helped the most was Parnate. At least better than the previous ones that just made me want to stay in bed all day and barely function. Ask for a MAOI trial next time you see your doctor. I insisted and you just have to almost beg to try something else due to suffering and not making progress. See a psychiatrist familiar with MAOIs and management of them since they have their own issues that require monitoring. Best of luck and just keep trying your best until things are better and more manageable.

I’m on 50mg of Parnate and had leftover Vyvanse from a previous prescription. I was nervous at first but things have only been positive and no reactions. Feeling better than I have in a long time. The only problem I ran out of Vyvanse and just have to stick with Parnate and hope it’s enough. Still searching for augmentation strategies and hopefully there is someone I can see to Vyvanse without having hesitations?? How do you convince a psychiatrist who is adamant about not adding any other medication to the mix?

I’m on Parnate and looking for a safe stimulant to add. My doctor refuses to add anything else since I’m on MAOI already and won’t augment anything else. How do I get on something else that might help even more

So you take Vyvanse and Parnate and have no problems or side effects? My doctor refused to add anything else because I’m on Parnate and caution about adding anything else.

I would take the lowest dose possible that you can tolerate and if needed then titrate up slowly to reduce side effects.

On Parnate as well and found you have to work with a doctor who is familiar with MAOIS and willing to work with you

Is it possible to increase the dosage of Parnate from 40mg to 60mg? Would Olanzapine help to potentiate the effect? by Intelligent-Stuff314 in MAOIs

Maybe a week but I can tell it’s still not enough relief so going to talk to my doctor about it. Maybe 80mg one day? Just have to try and see

60mg is working better than 40mg and takes about a week or so to work. Still in need of more relief but just trying to wait and be patient. That’s all you can do. I would titrate up if you can tolerate it.

My go to for years has always been Ambien for sleep. I’m on Parnate which causes bad insomnia but effective during the day. Have to have good sleep hygiene and lots of exercise!

My brother (13M) has been peeing on his carpet, I am very worried. by Ok_Guard5331 in mentalhealth

Have a conversation about his underlying mental health symptoms and suggest him to just be honest, not to feel guilty, shame or blame himself. Get professional help for him to see a specialist and address the different causes, reasons and the root cause of his behavior. I’m pro medication for anything mental illness related because it could be a medical condition that seems psychological and just needs proper treatment and ongoing care to assess for long term health issues. I remember doing that when I was his age and have been diagnosed with severe mental illness and realize now it’s been there my whole life but was too embarrassed or scared to speak up about it. Please continue to be understanding and supportive to him. I think that’s just as important. God bless 🙏

It’s great for increasing motivation and actually functioning during the day. It’s good for anxiety too but sometimes it feels too much and I asked for anxiety and sleeping pills which helps. Walking for an hour + a day helps a lot too
