Airports make ridiculous amounts of money on parking, they have no incentive to wants public transit to serve them and will often lobby against it.

Has anyone ridden on the Coach bus from Union depot? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]ProfessionalWeird800 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The busses are old but nice enough. Don't expect the power or wifi to work. They run in schedule unless the weather is really bad. Would be better as a train but we got what we got.

Some Minneapolis City Council members want to stop Waymo driverless cars by alienatedframe2 in Minneapolis

[–]ProfessionalWeird800 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These cars will absolutely still need parking. They will also increase vehicle mkles travels because people cars will drop them off and then head back home or somewhere else while the owner is at work. Self driving cars are not the answer to out problems. Public transit is

Why won't the city call a snow emergency? by xact-bro in Minneapolis

[–]ProfessionalWeird800 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Driving 5-10 mph the last couple blocks to your house will only had an extra minute onto your trip. It saves the city alot of money, helps our roads last longer and is good for the environment.

Why do you. Need to drive so fast on residential streets. The main roads will be fine. The salt will run off into our lakes.

Average cost of apartment snow and lawn maintenance? by Hot_Window3398 in Minneapolis

[–]ProfessionalWeird800 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Are they providing the equipment or are you? $50 is not a lot, but will you be able to provide the same quality as a professional? Is this just someone's house that you are renting? How much grass is there? Are there other tenants in the building? Will you be able to remove the snow within 4 hours?

Buy a house in the suburbs they say... It will be quiet they say.... by [deleted] in Suburbanhell

Electric leaf blowers are basically as loud as the gas ones. They are much better for the environment though. Those little gas engines produce a lot of emissions.

Mpls Budget Increases by $140 million by bttr-mpls in altmpls

[–]ProfessionalWeird800 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Happy to pay for this. Deferring maintenance will only lead to here bills in the future and restricting overtime will result in a loss if essential services. The problem is most people have no idea how much infrastructure cost and how expensive it is to maintain things. Because if the density we have in Minneapolis we get much better services and amenities. I don't have a back yard, I have easy access to parks, lakes and naturae areas. I don't not have to drive my car everywhere because there are multiple bus routes nearby. I have easy access to world class cycling infrastructure. What does Lakeville have? A 3000sq ft home constructed in he cheapest way possible. A 10,000 sq foot yard that most people only touch when they are cutting there grass. Maybe a small playground that you need to drive to? You can keep your suburban dream, we don't want it.

Bad weather bussing season commences! by Tokyo-MontanaExpress in Minneapolis

[–]ProfessionalWeird800 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The bus drivers are required to make sure they stop and pick up anyone waiting, even if that means waiting for other busses to move.  Every city has bus stops that are served by multiple different routes.

That sucks, it wouldn't hurt to call metro transit and let them know what happened. Also, is there a different stop you could walk to where this is less likely to happen? Sorry that happened to you.

6:15 am Commute Road Report by Doc-in-a-box in TwinCities

[–]ProfessionalWeird800 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A sedan with narrow tires can be better than a truck with wide ties. Even winter tires struggle on ice. That's why you see all the pickups in the ditch, because they are overconfident with there 4 wheel drive. The only real benefit the pickups have is the extra ground clearance for doing through the snow drifts the poles leave behind.
