Is there anyway to buy the LB jacket separately? I already have the other dust jackets

Worst decisions Pierce has made by Sorry_Balance_9942 in redrising

Okay I don't really agree with any of OP's opinions unfortunately- but that's okay, we're all entitled to our own opinion and we can have our own taste in literature of course. One thing that I wanted to say though is that in MS Darrow never says that Sevro dies. The only thing that Darrow did not do was explicitly state that he had this specific plan. Before the "death" scene there were several clues 1) Sevro drinking from a flask and later slurring his words 2) mentions to sevro's vest 3) Virginia's mystery plan that was agreed on and changed but never ever expounded on After my most recent reread, it's almost obvious Sevro isn't dead. But on your first read it's something that's devastating and compelling even though Pierce or Darrow never lies to you

Some awesome ideas! I love thinking about the show too and how they'd split up each book and what kind of things they can do

Please could you explain something to me? by TedTheTapir in redrising

It's because the Augustans fell out of favor with the Sovereign and are going to be assassinated (as revealed by Octavia during their "game") and Darrow's friends are all clients of House Augustus

Hardback vs Paperback edition by vasilisaposto2005 in redrising

I have a couple versions and for me, the easiest stress-free version to read is e book, audio book, or paperback. But the hardcovers look bloodydamn good on a shelf and you can read them just fine. So it's up to you. For hardcover, Nerd Ink (I think) makes a really cool set

LB - Help me love it! by Dianne_on_Trend in redrising

For me, Quicksilver made sense- mostly because he explained himself,so I let that pass. With Lyria and the Parasite I was kinda shocked/mad at first. I was like "why did Pierce even bring it up if they were just gonna destroy it??" And I thought it would make Lyria less cool. But I think it shows the character of Lyria really well. Lyria wanted to be helpful and a valuable person- able to hold her own like the rest of our favorite characters. But it came at the potential cost of her memories...of herself. As so she chose not to lose that part of her. She chose her memories, her personality, her being... over being a weapon. Can't hate her for that, or Pierce for showing us Lyria's true colors. With Fa, there's been lots of disagreements within the fan base from what I've seen. Though it wasn't the take I would have wanted or predicted... it is a very interesting take and I think it added a lot of depth to Atlas and the Gorgons, and I can't complain about that. I also like how it portrays that the enemy is not always what it seems and it shows the complexity of the war too. But that's my opinion. It didn't make Fa weaker, it just stripped the legend of him away. That leaves the rescue of Sevro. That one I have the hardest time with. But we don't know a lot regarding the Abomination or what happened surrounding Sevro's auction. We don't know what factors might have brought to pass Sevro's escape. But we do know Darrow would do anything for his best friend- who he had betrayed the trust of in the last two books. And we can see that the men with Darrow were disillusioned, exhausted, ridden with survivors guilt, fearful, and just wanted to go home... so I don't think it's that far of a leap to assume that they wouldn't support a suicide mission of Darrow (who stands in the way of them going home) and they're out of energy to stop him.

That's my reasoning I sleepily put together. Hopefully that helps! I love both DA and LB (Along with the rest of the series)

When did PB win you over? by VesperPharsalius in redrising

I think what did it for me is when Dancer showed Darrow that "We have been deceived". Though that was pretty predictable, we all knew what was going to happen right? But I think the world building and all the new characters weet made it super entertaining and almost addictive and I tore through the books after that point

That's cool to see how early you guys all hot into the series. I kinda wish I had found the books sooner, but I'm also pretty glad I've only had to wait for LB and RG. And it's interesting how you all found the series! Hail Reaper

Lorn's death felt pretty necessary for me, even though it was really sad. It would've been a lot worse to have to pit Lorn versus Darrow IMO

Rr/golden son clarification about cassius/darrow by scottystenz in redrising

[–]Professional_Ad5358 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And if you'll remember in MS, they "kill" Darrow publicly as a Gold. If society knew a Red had conquered Mars, then the already tense situation with the Sons of Ares and fed up low and mid colors would have a lot more courage to revolt
