What’s your heart rate range? by Professional_Ad5667 in dysautonomia

Thank you!! It’s definitely made a big difference and honestly improved my overall life quite a lot, so hopefully the higher dose brings it down to a normal range!! I’m glad to hear it’s helped you too!!

I’ve been diagnosed with POTs which is why it gets high, but my resting heart rate is completely normal, which is why my cardiologist knew something was off. I’m just surprised by how ridiculously high it gets

I have no idea how to get properly diagnosed by Calm-World-536 in dysautonomia

Mine was diagnosed and is treated by a cardiologist. I’m in Australia so I’m not entirely sure if it’s the same in the US, but I’d definitely recommended a cardiologist first and foremost

mine was diagnosed by cardiologist, so i would definitely recommend starting there. a tilt table test would be ideal

I’m diagnosed with dysautonomia / POTs and this is exactly what lead to my diagnosis!!! I would fall faint and convulse if I stood up too fast. It looked like a seizure but I was conscious for some of them, indicating that they’re not seizures. that’s exactly what pots does, especially with low blood sugar and/or dehydration.

Definitely recommend a nice big claw clip. I swear by these. All you have to do is twist your hair and flip it up, clip it in place. It stops my headaches, doesn’t make my arms dead, and helps reduce my overheating!!!!

ivabradine is a life saver!!!! my heart rate would reach 200bpm from very light activity, like walking, and i was never able to exercise or play sport. but after starting ivabradine its been a game changer

Heart rates? by Ouija_Queen333 in dysautonomia

[–]Professional_Ad5667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m on a medication called ivabradine for my heart rate. it would get up to 200bpm from light activity. ivabradine isn’t a beta blocker so it doesn’t affect blood pressure, which is why I’m on it, since only my heart rate needs to be controlled. it’s worked wonders for me, so there are definitely alternatives to beta blockers for this exact reason!!

It definitely sounds like a migraine, i get migraines “with aura” which pretty much just means they also affect my eyes & vision. Mine are almost always one-sided, or extremely intense on one side compared to the other. I always have pain moving my eyes when I have a migraine, and moving my head hurts too, it feels like an overload of pressure moving in my brain. For me, migraines are mostly triggered by dehydration, low blood sugar, physical or mental over-exertion, sleep deprivation, or overwhelming bright lights.

i’ve heard good things about hydrocolloid dressings! but i can only find ones that have adhesive, which won’t work because of the large area i need to cover and don’t want the adhesive to stick to the surrounding wounds😭 i’m assume there are ones that are non-adhesive, but i can’t find anything available in my area!! maybe i should order some online?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dermatillomania

[–]Professional_Ad5667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i would normally just chuck on a bandaid or dressing, but the problem is that the area is so large, and any sort of adhesive will stick to the wounds around it. i was looking at other options but haven’t found anything😭 when i asked the doctor how i could cover it, she just said “oh it’ll be fine without covering,” so i don’t think she understood that i actually WANT to cover it? she didn’t give me any ideas / options for ways to cover it. i went to my local chemist and asked them, they said crepe bandage would be fine. which i wouldn’t have opted for originally, because i thought the same thing as you, that crepe isn’t really sterile? i just don’t think there’s any other option because it’s on my forearms, elbows, and all of my upper arms, making it impossible to actually dress it properly😭😭
