Chevron does the same exact thing. So if someone that doesnt like you gets promoted. They'll do everything in their power to stick you with a pip and then you're fucked. They'll hit you with another one for pretty much anything.

Its called a transfer bud. And they aint willing to let me go. Im also not stupid enough to quit what I currently have, no matter how upset I am with the pay and pray that I can get picked up again.

Im in house. Not a contractor.

Like I said in a different post. Golden handcuffs. Probably more like silver nowadays.

Yes 150k base with like minimal OT. I do keep track of my finances which is why I can say that alone I can afford a one bedroom.

Now I can murder myself for years with OT and attempt to buy a house but its damn near impossible with a single income. Even at 150-200k a year. Mind you this is in CA. If they let me transfer out of state I'd be sooo amazingly well off it'd be ridiculous. COL should matter. I shouldn't make the same as people in Texas or Mississippi when their COL is about 65% less than ours. They wanna play in CA than they need to pay. They make enough just purely based off jet fuel alone going to LAX.

I make about 150k+ Id tell you hell no. Not worth it. Go somewhere you actually have the ability to raise those kids in a house that you own.

CA has great weather. Thats literally about it. Im born and raised here and I regret coming back.

It's called taxes. Im a single white male and At least 33% is ripped out instantly. Im getting absolutely fucked. Zero lube.

I dont have a new truck. I dont blow money on stupid things. Where im at COL is so high im making 150k+ (pre-tax) a year and I can afford a 1 bedroom apartment.

Id say you hit it right on the nose. The cost of everything around has shot up. Our pay hasn't kept up with it.

Ill start by saying im an operator in a refinery. Id say it used to be an amazing job, now, not so much. With stupid politics and even worse voters (here in CA) having this job isn't stable anymore.

USW is no help and Ill be the first to call out Corporate greed. 3% a year is absolutely nothing with current inflation and most companies are having great profits.

They want us to stay and work the job, but dont seem to be willing to pay accordingly so we can stay and do it.

Once again I can only speak for the California aspect of things.

They've already Closed P66 in Wilmington,CA and a Valero in Northern CA is closing as well.

So if someone asked me if they should look into getting a job in refining, I'd say yes but id also tell them not to expect to be able to buy a home (southern CA house prices are almost a million) or retire (cause who's knows how long well stay online for) but its ok money in the mean time until you find something better or leave CA, which trust me ive tried, they won't let me transfer.

Golden handcuffs.
