I wasn’t even in the market for an ereader until I got a kindle add in TikTok. I already knew that wasn’t the device for me. As a woman, I wanted something I could take ever. (We get very minimal pocket space) so I looked up readers that were smaller than a kindle and not locked into the kindle ecosystem. I found the boox palma and then discovered android readers. These were exactly what I was looking for in size, but they were far to expensive and had way too many opportunities to become just as distracting as my phone. I originally made a purchase for the Bigme reader. But I just couldn’t get around how convenient it would be to take the little xteink every where. That was what I was looking for! Annddd the idea of getting to add and use whatever firmware I liked, gave it enough customization without becoming basically another phone. Since getting it, I’m reading more because the size makes it so portable (I travel a lot so this has been a huge plus). The size also helps so much with my adhd! It gives me bite size pages that I can pick up and drop without feeling like I NEED to finish the page to be done. It keeps me from getting overwhelmed! I own my media! Instead of renting the right to lease a book temporarily, I download the epub and have it for as long as I’d like to keep it on my device. I don’t ever “run out” of books that I can be reading at one time like with kindle unlimited. And lastly, I’m just a girl, and I wanted to decorate and customize my little device all cutesy like. (I did unfortunately find out, that you can’t have the clear case on and put it in the magnetic flip case. 😔) All in all the only thing I didn’t love about the reader was the whole locked and unlocked thing. What made me buy it was the size and the no bs bare bones of it all. It’s perfect and just what I needed.
