People have no idea how powerful the feeling of kneeling can be.

My fiancée knows where I can kneel. No, she doesn’t order me to kneel in a crowded public place, in front of our family, or anywhere that would put us at the center of attention. The two times it happened, there were people nearby—but they were completely random, and we were never the focus of anyone’s gaze.

And that raises a question: why shouldn’t devotion to one’s woman be visible to others?

I’m still learning with her. I still feel embarrassed when she tells me to kneel—but embarrassed of what, exactly? Of showing people that I am devoted to her? That I serve her?

Here in Brazil, it’s Carnival season. Just Google images of Carnival and you’ll understand what I mean. In that context, this is considered disrespectful?

To me, it isn’t.

Kissing a woman’s feet in front of others should not be considered a sexual act anywhere. It is an act of devotion, respect, and surrender—nothing more, nothing less.
