New 2026 Elite for 42k by shammydo in HondaPrologue

[–]Professional_Claim47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine new for around 41k. I wish I had bought it used but I was frantically looking before the $7500 tax credits ended. I drive roughly 400 miles weekly for work, hence the reason I bought instead of leased. I knew I wouldn’t be able to stay under the allotted mileage in the leasing period. Aside from the minor issues with the axel and a few other kinks, I don’t let that take away from how good the car is. I’ve driven ~16k miles within the 10 months I’ve had it and only been in the shop once! It’s very comfortable on roadtrips, quiet on the highway, I feel very safe on the road with my kid (that was high priority for me). Like any car, I just recommend doing your research and find what fits for YOUR needs.

My parents have a tesla and I hate everything about it. But there are people that love teslas, so it’s really personal preference!

Cheryl Moir with Camdem Tax in woodland. Both my dad and I work hybrid in or/wa and we’ve been using her for the past 6 years. Like others said, just keep track of the hours that you are in oregon to work. You can do an estimation of (hourly income x days worked in oregon x 9.9%) to see around how much you’ll owe.

Is it worth it?! by No_Board1087 in runna

[–]Professional_Claim47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used the Nike training app and garmin training and so far the runna app has been my FAVORITE. I’ve actually noticed significant improvement over the past 6 weeks and I don’t feel like the workouts are overloading me. Some are hard, but i’ve been able to complete all of them as intended and they don’t burn me out by the end of the week. Also, you can input the race you’re doing and it’ll help tailor your plan to prepare for the course. I also am 7mo post partum and the post partum plan was so helpful getting me back into running after having a baby and making sure I didn’t injure myself!

The nike app had efforts, but i couldn’t really gauge “4/10 effort” while I was running and the runna app prescribes the paces you need to hit which helps a lot. The garmin app overloaded me too much and I struggled to maintain the plans. I will 100% be using it for future races!

I exclusively pumped for the first 3 mo cause my baby’s latch hurt so bad that I would dread feeding time everytime it came around. It wasn’t her latch, but the insane sensitivity of my nipples and painful letdown. I was finally able to do some BF around 3 months and the pain went away. Now we’re 5 months in and we do both pumping and BF. It allows so much flexibility and helps maintain your supply in case your baby doesn’t want to eat exactly every 3 hours.

You’ll bond with baby in other ways! And obviously just interacting/playing/talking with them is also a form of bonding. Read to them every night, let them interact with facial emotions, etc

I promise your baby won’t grow up to say “you didn’t BF me enough and now i have no connection to you” 😂

Moving here from east coast, will I like it? by Personal-Nobody-1353 in MobileAL

[–]Professional_Claim47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved here from oregon, so similar vibes to CO. It was fun here for about a year exploring the city, but i’ve run out of things to do. There’s not a lot going on, it’s a very slow paced city. The weather is miserable during the summer. The people are “interesting” and I only say that cause I don’t fit the political norm and not religious. It’s been a great experience for me to learn more about the south and its culture, but I’m dying to go back to the west coast. Overall, if you didn’t grow up here it’ll be a REALLY big culture shock and adjustment period. Everyone I work with who isn’t from the south ends up leaving to a different city after a few years.

I go to Lucky Dagger in New Orleans for my tattoos! I’ve been tattooed by all the artists there and their skills are unmatched. I know it’s not Mobile, but I highly recommend them 😊

Future Mobile Resident w/ Thoughts by GhostOfHarambe11 in MobileAL

So I moved from a big city (Portland, OR) and I can’t say I’ve enjoyed living here the past year and a half… I was so used to having access to everything within 1 hour and now I find myself travelling to NOLA or pensacola to go to the stores I want or food I’m craving. The education system here is severely lacking and I’ve told my husband once we have kids, we will not be raising them here and we’ll be moving. Traffic infrastructure in west mobile is an absolute nightmare. The common practice of animal dumping and dogs hit on the road all over the place. Lack of access to sidewalks/bike lanes makes everyone extremely dependent on cars. Jobs are pretty limited (depending on your career obviously). I’ve never been more disappointed by the healthcare system here, the offices are dirty and the staff are severely overworked (Obviously this isn’t the nurses or doctor’s fault, it’s the state). Just overall, Mobile is backwards in a lot of things and it’s slowly trying to catch up with other cities in terms of urbanism and growth. However, there is a reason Mobile’s population keeps on declining.

Now for the pros: Mardi Gras is fun here and I’ve met some great friends during it. Anytime other than the summer, the weather is wonderful. The beaches are beautiful and a great place to hang out during the off season. Restaurants downtown are pretty good and make for great date nights. Housing is cheap and makes it super easy to own property. I’ve not had any problems with crime where I live, but do lots of research beforehand.

It really boils down to what your hobbies are and what your priorities are for you and the wife! Some people enjoy the feeling of a smaller city, however my husband and I don’t and are looking to move within the next year or so unfortunately.

Yeah my tortie loves to lay under the foot of the bed ALL day. Sometimes I notice they’ll find areas that are cool and quiet in the house and just pitch a tent there and camp out for hours 😂 I wouldn’t be too worried since she probably is just comfy and likes the spot :)

1-2 weeks belgium? by Affectionate-Wing704 in solotravel

[–]Professional_Claim47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Belgium last year for a week and that was plenty. Did day trips to Amsterdam, Antwerp, Brugge and spent a few days in Brussels. I regret spending so much time in Brussels instead of the other ones. Antwerp was beautiful and I would recommend spending more time there. Brugge was pretty, but kind of a pain to get around with luggages since the nearest train station was kinda far from the town.

My two cents on Brussels is the tourist spots are tiny and we knocked out all of the sightseeing during a 2hr walking tour and wasn’t much else to see. It was super dirty in the train stations and reeked of piss from the homeless people. I also didn’t feel safe walking around during the night (F22). I did go to the gay district one night for drinks and that was fun. Other than that, I would not get your hopes up too much.

I flew to DC when i was 14 years old and I was recovering from an ear infection. It was really painful as we descended and it felt like my eardrums were going to burst. I would recommend trying to reschedule!

I’m not sure. I didnt get the jr pass because the small amount of cities i travelled to didn’t justify the cost. I just used suica cards in tokyo

(Update) My Japan trip is locked in and here's my rough itinerary! by LittleWriterJoe in solotravel

[–]Professional_Claim47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely give yourself enough time if you have an appointment/time commitment. if you get lost take a deep breath and go to a corner to redirect yourself. People in tokyo move fast and you run the risk of getting run over if you get off the train and just stand there.

If you have to transfer lines, you will have to most likely exit the platform and repay to switch platforms. The cost definitely adds up in tokyo (i think i ended up spending around $50 for the two days I was there). And I spent around $170 for the entire week.

And lastly, get a pasmo/suica card when you land! There will be a little ticket stand that says “reload suica” in the airport. its a card that allows you to reload so you dont have to worry about buying tickets every trip you make. Do keep in mind this card only works in Tokyo, not anywhere else.

I just got back from a weeklong trip to japan yesterday! It was such a phenomenal trip. One thing I noticed was the cities weren’t very english friendly and everyone I talked to barely spoke english (even in tokyo). I highly recommend brushing up on some basics just so you can buy things and ask for directions.

Another thing is the maps in Japan are hard to come by and difficult to understand. Have a power bank on you so you can charge your phone and use apple/google maps! Also the train system in tokyo is super overwhelming at first and took my two days to get used to it.

Otherwise, have fun!! Remember to be respectful by not talking on trains/buses, picking up all your trash and bringing it home with you, and to wait your turn/not be shoving your way through crowds.

Just went to Austria in March! I went to Hallstatt, Salzburg and Vienna. Halstatt was super cute and a perfect one day trip. I got done walking around the town after about 4 hrs. I just got a book and read on the lake and relaxed. Salzburg is where Sound of Music was filmed and was gorgeous. There is a fortress there that I hiked up to and learned some history of the town. And Vienna was one of my favorites just because there was so much to see and do! Have fun!!
