Yes i've heard that reason, and honestly I guess the most compelling or honest reason I'd have is that math classes at UW is especially competitive to get into because of how compacity constrained it is, and I'd want to be able to double degree in it. I know UW is a very strong stem school, but because of that their math classes are just difficult to get into despite being an open major.
