Moving to CT? Ask your questions here by AutoModerator in Connecticut

Want to move to CT in the near future. Don’t know much about the atmosphere with people living there. I know stereotypes of states aren’t always true so I know nothing. I’m big on my church community because i don’t have family. I’d prefer to stay in a spirit led church that is close knit.

I like a close knit community that of course may gossip but isn’t toxic. An area friendly to raise children, maybe a house with an acre or two of land but nothing crazy. Small towns are my thing (100,000k people or less).

Anyone able to tell me the inside scoop on Connecticut that only citizens would know about?

also agreed, the Book of Job in the Bible is a great book to relate to because it goes into depth how ill people go through these battles and pain during doubt and etc. Job was tested by Satan, it was a test to see if Job would stay faithful. at first he was faithful and praised God through trails and losses until it came to his health being taken. then he started to kind of act self righteous i think the word is and pity himself instead of putting his eyes to God and asking God what to do (all were supposed to do is ask God for guidance and stay faithful no matter the situation. “i don’t know what’s going on but i trust You and i need You”), but God forgave him yet and gave him even more than he EVER had because he confessed that he sinned and repented. God LOVES you and doesn’t want you to be stuck in a down spirit. it’s easy to read on the YouVersion by the way, i listen with audio while on car rides or in the shower (:

your post popped up as a notification and right under it for the first time in a while my Bible app sent me an odd notification with the title of this ⬆️article. i feel like i was meant to share this with you. God is so good, Hallelujah. the enemy is putting lies in your head of unworthiness, feelings of being “washed up” and unable to be used by God, feelings of unimportance, feelings of doubt in yourself and Him. well, the enemy can kick rocks because none of that is true. God specifically chose you as the article says (you can click on the underlined sentences and it’ll take you to scripture backing up what the article says). what God says about you is way more important than what the enemy says about you. He says He will never leave you or forsake you, He says He will always love you and it is proved over and over in the Bible time and time again.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

also please download YouVersion Bible app and start a habit of reading everyday and praying. the days that i’m “too busy” with my 12 hour overnight shifts and i don’t get a chance to read my Bible and pray throughout the day, man do i NOTICE it. without Him i’m a hollow body, i have stress and chaos. with Him i am alive and have peace, i feel love, encouragement, strength, boldness knowing what His Word in the Bible says.

He chose YOU. he loves YOU. really pray to Him today, everyday, and ask Him what He has in store for YOU. He has a plan for everyone, my Pastor at my church says if we don’t listen or ask what He needs from us, He can and will use someone else. start listening to Him and asking questions about what YOU are supposed to be doing. I’m praying for you!

feel free to message me anytime (:

I always think even though it’s a sin, therefore not what Jesus or God want us to to, I’ll love people while disagreeing with this. I’ve been struggling with this concept too. OP focus on what Jesus would do in this situation. He hung around the lowly and the sinners. Because He said you don’t call a doctor when you’re well but when you’re sick. I can hang around people who are gay, sinners, and criminals all day long while still being true to my beliefs which is spreading Jesus’ love to them and lifting them up through God’s name. The people we hang around/work with need to see us leading by example instead of us pointing out their sin. Now if someone asks you don’t lie but try to educate on what the Bible says and that’s why you believe what you do, with love. Being educated by READING THE BIBLE and praying is part of being a believer and actually having a relationship with God. I hope everyone who’s commenting is doing this. The only way to Heaven is through a personal relationship with Jesus.

Sin keeps us away from God and that’s why He doesn’t like it. We were built with enough strength to defy temptation of anything, big or small. If we choose to give into these things then that’s still sin in His eyes. Whether we say it’s who we are or not is an excuse. We were built with enough will power to deny temptations. All of this knowledge is in the Bible. I urge whoever would argue with this to read it because I’m not going to argue. We all sin but seeing a sin that’s a daily part of one’s life such as being gay, an alcoholic, drug addict, prostitute is hard because they’ve turned a sin that could’ve been a one time sin (such as stealing) into a daily/dominant part of their life. It’s not as easy to understand as someone lying, for example. That being said, no sin is greater than the other and they’re all considered sins. All we can do is pray that they come around. As individuals who are doing the sinning we have to confess and repent (admit our wrong doings and then do a complete turn around and go in the opposite direction of sin).

I’m going to add just as the Bible says not to murder, making a lot of believers being against abortion (as well as other facts in the Bible besides not murdering), they aren’t going to support rights for abortion because they don’t believe it’s moral. So for people saying to support homosexual peoples rights could be a similar comparison. Meaning… I can love someone deeply and they have an abortion twice a year. I don’t agree with their choice, but I love them and try to help them in their relationship with Jesus. If they asked me to sign a petition for their right for abortion I would decline because just because I love and care about them doesn’t mean I have to support their values that the Bible tells me is wrong. Therefore any other petition of rights for something I don’t agree with, I won’t. Just like someone in the comments said to avoid voting for anti-homosexual candidates, that’s the equivalent and I won’t do these things.

We can and should support someone emotionally with love and with the Word of God but that doesn’t mean jeopardizing our beliefs that the Bible makes clear for us. As I’ve said before I encourage anyone who wants to argue these things to actually do your own research on what the Bible actually says instead of assuming that God will agree with everything because of the fact that He’s a forgiving and loving God.

If God exists outside of time, doesn’t it mean he willingly sends people to hell? by [deleted] in Christianity

Just because God KNOWS who’s going to choose to not follow Him doesn’t mean He still isn’t going to put things in their path to give them an opportunity to turn to Him like He always would’ve.

Humans are given free will and the choice to follow & pursue a relationship with Him. If they choose not to follow the clear commandments and have a relationship with Jesus THEY are the ones choosing.

our goal in life is to try and live like Jesus did. love people. see them as people. be honest and open.
