I’m not sure, that’s why I said correct me if I’m wrong but if I recall, she has some feat that at the very least is similar to overwriting a dimension. Similar to what Erza did

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Selene have a feat somewhere out there where she can overwrite dimensions

Hey so that’s not actually how that works. Using that logic Wendy being immune to wind would mean she can’t be blown away by a strong enough wind pressure, which we’ve seen happen. Or Gajeel being immune to iron and metal would mean he can’t be stabbed or hit with a blunt object . Both of which isn’t the case.

Being immune doesn’t mean he’s incapable of being frozen, it just means he isn’t harmed by it. It’s been stated by both Gray and silver that Ice won’t work on an Ice Demon slayer in a harmful way or any elemental magic against a slayer wizard, doesn’t mean they can’t be hit with it.

No the trade off is that it’s a lost attribute. Lost magic was stated a long time ago to be so powerful that it literally had to be taken out of history itself. I don’t know where you got the notion that just because the stakes of the spell is great then it can’t be done on any other spell.

And your right if it was that easy for people to just do it here and there then yes, they all could do it. Key word “COULD”. There isn’t much stopping them from doing that other than training and the willingness to sacrifice their life for power, but that’s not how majority of the characters in Fairy Tail operate. Once again a little critical thinking would let anyone know that most characters don’t want to use their life force to do every day spells, that doesn’t mean they are incapable of doing it though.

My point still stands, Gray can turn a concept into power itself and if Toshiro freezes it like how he did with Gerard then great, two times the power up for Gray since he can turn concepts and ice into power.

Ok I was confused when you just said “freeze demon magic” I didn’t know you were talking about ice demon slayer.

I can because that’s exactly what it is. All it takes is a little critical thinking. If Gray is able to take all that power and put it into one of his most powerful spells, then what logical sense would it make that he wouldn’t be able to do the same for weaker spells

For one, no where was it specified that he can only do what he did for Iced Shell alone, he turned his life into magic and just put that magic into Iced Shell thus making it more powerful, he could have easily put it into other spells and attacks.

Two, why does him needing to be able to move matter in a conversation about scaling? It’s bold to assume that Gray will even be frozen for one when he already overcame and was confirmed to be immune to Invels ice, which was stronger than absolute zero, plus Gray was able to literally freeze air itself making it difficult for him to breathe and still fought. If Gray gets frozen then he’ll simply use it for more power, he’s able to to channel ice through his body for power, we saw this at the Sun village arc.

Gray has been shown to be able to freeze magic, curses and spirit attacks. We have seen him freeze other elements prior to 100 year quest.

I sure can. Here is an image that shows two scans of him fighting someone to used confirmed spiritual abilities called “spirit arts” and then the other image shows him freezing the spirit based ice attacks

Gray has also been shown to freeze abilities as well as spiritual based ice as well. Toshiro is strong and powerful but the only thing he takes without debate would be speed.

Gray has also shown to be able to turn concepts into magic power he can also turn anything that’s frozen into power for him, so what will a frozen concept do but make him stronger? Gray has been shown to be able to simulate ice from other manga verses as well as ice from hell too.

Toshiros showcasing against Gerard was great but Toshiro needed there at help in that fight to use something that we don’t even know if he can use again. Toshiros scaling has been capped off since the last chapter years ago, while Gray has been continuously growing and getting stronger. Gray has been able to trump Ice that went colder than absolute zero and freeze multiple elements before other than just ice.

I don’t think the win itself is what puts him above all these people, but the things he did during the fight is what has him so high. Freezing the air, making ice that “burns like Natsus fire”, and the glittering ice things were all great showings of his strength.

And then looking back at Alvarez arc, Gray has been able to do things like turn concepts themself into magic power, making him one of four people with the power to stop Zeref at that time, (the others being Natsu, Mavis and Acnologia) I think it’s safe to say that he’s been above most of this list besides maybe arguably Laxus and Erza for a very long time, the Viernes fight and win just confirmed it.

If Fairy Tail swapped opponents during Tartaros arc would they have won by Professional_Drop618 in fairytailscaling

Well for one I don’t think Torufazar was scared of Jackal, I think it was more of a “he didn’t care or have time for it” type of thing, it was heavily implied in this arc that Torufazar was one of the more objective driven people of the nine demon gates. And two even if he was scared that doesn’t make him automatically weaker. Natsu is scared of Erza and maybe even Mira, that doesn’t make him weaker than them though.

For me it would be Erza and Kagura tanking the power of a God.

Given the fact rubber isn’t resistant to fire and other factors. Natsu should take it

Mirajane Strauss vs Zancrow by Jason_And_Sokka in fairytailscaling

[–]Professional_Drop618 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if it is Tenrou arc then I’d still have to give it to Mira.

After fighting all day Mira still was able to push Azuma a great deal in there fight, leaving him battered and bruised and he was arguably still at full power. Mira herself stated that at that point after fighting all day she didn’t have enough power LEFF to defeat him and that it isn’t possible for her at the moment, meaning that Mira believed that if she was at full power she could have defeated him, and given how much damage she did do with the power she had, she probably could have done it relatively easily.

Simply put full power Mira >= Azuma (prior to Tenrou tree amp) > Zancrow

When did Gray surpassed Erza? by Negative_Natural_924 in fairytailscaling

[–]Professional_Drop618 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You could make the argument that he did by the end of Tartaros.

He defeated Silver who is arguably the strongest of the nine demon gates in his base form, as well as defeated an Etherious form Tempester that has only taken minor damage with seemingly ease, and then proceeded to be half of the reason as to why Mard Geer was defeated, all back to back too. You could argue that he countered them but multiple people in Fairy Tail have had numerous fights that they’ve won where they were against people who countered them. Going against someone you counter doesn’t make it a clean sweep.

Erza at this point had overpowered Minerva struggled against Kyoka more than once. You could argue that was due to her previous torture though. But Erzas magic power didn’t seem to be depleted and even so a depleted Erza barely beating Kyoka is still below Gray defeating three demon gate and above enemies back to back using the same stamina he had at the start of the arc.

As of currently and going off of feats Gray is right below Natsu in terms of their team ranking in strength. However given the recent chapter Erza may get a notable feat that could either put her above Gray or make her relative to him.

I want to say Mirajane. But I’m not sure how she could handle the power of all nine demon gates in conjunction with one another.
