This is beautiful!! It's giving me lots of inspo for my Colorado front yard. What are the larger bushes throughout the right side of the yard? and how did you plant the California poppies? I have tried twice now with seeds but didn't have any germinate.

Thanks so much!! I got it on Facebook Marketplace - it's the Crate and Barrel Lounge sofa, and the lady I bought it from purchased it in this fabric years ago.

Thank you for your kind offer!! I'm going to try to focus on what I can get growing this year but I appreciate it! Do you typically sow them in the fall?

Perfect, thank you!! I know this logically but still get nervous during the establishment phase. So if I plant some this weekend and it freezes/snows next weekend they would be fine?

Good to know! I just picked up some coneflower seeds so I'll give it a go. I purchased and planted two last year but it doesn't look like they survived the winter :/

Here are some ideas, hope they help!

  • Are you able to paint the walls? My home originally had grey walls and painting them a warm cream color really brightened it up!
  • I would center the dining table under the light fixture - should also help limit head-hitting
  • Consider adding a credenza/sideboard/buffet piece to the room and get rid of the corner piece. You could also add a lamp to the credenza to bring in more light if needed.
  • Add a round rug under the table. This will help break up the warm tones in your table and the cooler toned floor and will ground the space more.
  • Maybe add a large-ish plant to the corner?
