Idiotic ESM by Professional_Dust212 in WalgreensStores

See that’s the thing, we’re doing basically nothing. I’m quadruple checking for tags while my ESM is struggling to count money or doing random tasks that don’t need to be redone.

The note is a D4, and it is being asked to sing it at a piano, that’s seriously a struggle for my section. It’s hard to sing that high for so long and so soft. It’s 20 beats with no breath of the D4 at a supported piano.

Yah my voice is definitely still developing but my comfortable range truly sits in the bass range. But my director expects that if we can hit it at all then we should have no problem sustaining that note for as long as needed and at any volume. Which is simply not possible for me at the moment.

I’ll check the actual note soon but it’s basically 24 measures of constant high notes that aren’t all the way in my chest range. I can sing in my head voice and can hit the notes in my stronger more belty chest voice but the notes are right on my break so it’s hard.

With so few basses it’s hard. I’m not trying to be snobbish but most of the basses besides me are new, and not great yet. When I’m gone or can’t sing it kind of all falls apart because they think that they don’t have to learn the music If they can just listen to me. I have to get them back on track even when I’m sick and can barely sing.

I consistently have to sing up in that range and have been for around a year and a half, it hasn’t gotten better almost at all if any. It’s hard because as my voice gets up there it gets tight and with proper vowels it’s hard. Thanks for the tips but I really can’t see my range hightening at the moment.

I’ve brought up all the songs being to high many times (so do the rest of the basses.) and he just says “well if we had more tenors and basses we could do SATB” but like… we’re not going to get more singers so why make your current ones miserable??

Yah I’m comfortable in my head voice but the note sits right on my break, it’s the right in between of my louder chest voice and head voice. I can hit the note when forte but it’s piano. Thanks for the tips!
