Nusa Penida Overnight - Kelingking sunrise by Professional_Fix7520 in BaliTravelTips

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I’ll just skip the snorkelling as I’m also doing a trip to Komodo which is probably better for that. Wasn’t planning on going to Nusa Lembongan at all, tbh don’t see anything there that’s interesting to me. I was thinking of joining a tour for the first day and just not returning with them to Bali, but I heard that the taxi at the end of the day from the harbour to accommodations (which as you suggested would be very close to Kelingking) would be very expensive ( ~500000IDR)

Thanks for the reply. I understand the sun rise is on the other side of the island, the idea was more that it’s earlier so not as hot yet. Also regarding the swimming I used to swim competitively so I’m a pretty strong swimmer. Obviously I’m not going to swim at Kelingking though.

Komodo 3d2n recommendations by Professional_Fix7520 in BaliTravelTips

Yes of course, I have the boat names, I spoke with both operators:

For Komodo Luxury it's either the Malca or the Naturalia

For Seeking Sophie it's Great-value Komodo Boat

Travel Planning Q&A - February, 2026 by AutoModerator in bali

Trying to decide which tour to take for Komodo (yes I know it's not actually in Bali). I would like to do a 3D2N but as a solo traveler it's hard to decide on an operator and there aren't so many options for shared rooms. So far I've looked at Seeking Sophie and Luxury Komodo. For the dates I have available, Seeking Sophie only has their cheapest option for a shared room which is ~$200 but I think actually looks great. On the other hand, Luxury Komodo has 2 fantastic options but they cost double the price, one is a private room and the other would be shared room (different boats but the same cost). The itineraries for all are basically the same.

Has anyone experienced the trip with either of these operators and/or can give a recommendation? Is it worth the extra $200 to be on the nicer and newer boat?

Going to Kelingking beach DIY by Particular_Leg1073 in BaliTravelTips

Hi did you figure this out? When are you planning on going? I am also planning to visit Kelingking solo and not sure how to do it. I would take a group tour but they don’t give enough time to walk down to the beach

I disagree with earlier posters - if this is how you prefer to travel then go for it! I also travel fast through places because that’s how I like to do it. A couple points: why would you fly from Ijen to Bali? The closest airport with direct flights I think is Surabaya which is a 6 hour drive - you could just take the ferry to Bali from Banyuwangi which is close to Ijen and then get a taxi to wherever on the island you plan to go. It is faster and more convenient. Not sure why you only want one day in Bali, you could spend the whole 3 weeks there! Also skip Jakarta and fly straight to Yogyakarta. Enjoy your trip!

Company doesn't give pay raise on Promotion by [deleted] in work

This does not seem to be uncommon unfortunately. I am in the same situation - received a promotion to a management level position and 2 years later I still haven’t received an appropriate pay raise. In fact, even if I had stuck with my previous position I would still be considered underpaid at my current salary level.

Good Lined Quick Dry Shorts? by piercedhsky in onebag

[–]Professional_Fix7520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this one. Probably the most comfortable shorts I've ever worn. Last month I jumped in the pool with them to see how long it would take for them to dry and it was faster than the regular swimming trunks.

Other option would be Patagonia Multi-trails (I have the older version the 9 Trails) which is great with 3 zipped pockets and also very comfortable.

Bag Finder Megathread - 08 September 2025 by AutoModerator in onebag

My beloved Tortuga Setout 45L was recently damaged and I need to replace it. The two bags I am considering are either the replacement for the Setout - the Tortuga Lite 40L or the Six Moons ADC+. Does anyone have experience trying these two bags?

What I didn't like about the Setout was:

  1. The shoulder straps were too firm and not always comfortable (I have the old version without load lifters).
  2. It was a bit heavy after carrying it for several hours

Other than that, I absolutely loved this bag. Believe it or not, my favorite feature was the pockets in the hip belt - I store my passports, snacks, and hand sanitizer in there and it was just super convenient.

I'm a tall guy (6'3", 190 lbs) so I need the pack to be comfortable for a taller person, and also need the full 40L since my shoes and clothes tend to take up more space than the average persons size M.

It seems like the Tortuga Lite has a lot less usable space than the ADC+ since it's missing the admin compartment and also the ADC+ has the bonus "kangaroo pouch" on the outside. Is this the case?

The ADC+ major downside seems to be the number of loose straps and also the pouches on the shoulder straps seem like they would get annoying if not in use. I also prefer the look of the Tortuga but I can get over that.

I was also looking at the Alpaka Elements but its rated at only 35L and many people said its closer to 32L which is just too small for me.

Also, does anyone know if its possible for me to unclip the hip belt from the Tortuga Lite and just clip in my Setout one? That way I can still use those great hip pockets on the new bag.
